Anyone who has watched Family Guy for any period of time will be quite aware that creator Seth MacFarlane is a massive nerd. His Star Wars obsession will likely not have gone unnoticed either, if you don't believe me check the DVD special feature showing his favourite holy trilogy jokes included in past series. Here he gets to go all out though, casting his characters in an animated re... imagining (for lack of a better word) of the original Star Wars feature, A New Hope. Peter gets to be Hans Solo, with Lois as Princess Leia, Chris as Luke, and my personal favourite, Cleveland and Quagmire as R2D2 and C3PO respectivly. If this on its own dosn't make you want rush out and buy this DVD I don't know what will. For those of you not familar with the show, Family Guy is an animated sitcom, in the vein of The Simpsons, that pushes the envelope 40 times further, and breaks up the action with nonsensical pop culture refrencing clips. The clips can sometimes grate a little, but this particular show dosn't really feature any of these anyway. What does feature heavily is MacMarlane's fantastic dialouge. I could try and explain to you what makes it so funny, but your better of going and getting this DVD and watching Peter and Brian (as Chewbacca) try and lift a discarded sofa they found on the Deathstar onto the Millenium Falcon, this will work much better. A must see.
