Pooh and freinds as good as ever
Review of Winnie The Pooh - Halloween (Animated) by
catkinsays
Advantages: A fun filled seasonal dvd for all the family
Disadvantages: Colours are a little muted
What a great DVD. My son is 2 and this year was the first Halloween that he was aware of. Pooh and friends helped him understand and see the fun in dressing up with friends. When the trick or treaters knocked on our door this year, he ran excitedly to the door shouting Pooh Bear, Pooh Bear. As always Pooh and friends are full of fun and gamesand as always there is a moral to the story. A clever mix of ghosty / ghouly bump in the night halloween fun, ...

Family fun with a lesson
Review of Magical World Of Winnie The Pooh - Vol. 2 - Little Things Mean A Lot (Animated) by
dizzymonkey
Advantages: Encourages sharing
Disadvantages: I am not a fan of the new theme tune but thats just a personal disadvantage!
I am a self confessed Winnie the Pooh fan so I am loving the fact that my daughter is also enchanted by this lovable bear and his group of friends! The stories... Well without giving too much away (what would be the point in you watching if I told all?) this dvd is split into four different tales, each revolving around the theme of sharing. The title of this collection of stories is Little Things Mean a Lot, the stories promote sharing and caring.
... ...Pooh trying to make all his friends wishes come true when he thinks that he has worn Christopher Robin's wishing star out, in reality it has just gone behind a cloud but Pooh is unaware of this being the fluffy brained bear that he is. It is a delightful story that follows him endeavouring to do all that he can in order to please his friends due to his caring nature. The idea is cute and the imagery even cuter, especially when Pooh dresses up as ...

Come play with Pooh - you know you want to!
Review of Magical World Of Winnie The Pooh - Vol. 3 - It's Playtime With Pooh (Animated) by
yummy.mummy
Advantages: Nostalgia and learning at it's best
Disadvantages: Only four episodes
As a mother of a 3 year old son I have had the pleasure of being thrown back into the world of childrens animation, and stories of lands far far away that the eye cannot see, but the imagination can imagine. I get to watch cartoons without guilt, hum nursery rhymes for a reason, and generally be a child all over again, and share innocent fun and pleasure with my son.
The world of childrens programming today is a give or take situation. Certain programmes ... ...I find that I don't like programmes like Power Rangers of Pokemon etc, as the childlike innocence and fun seems to have vanished from the television screen, instead to be replaced by programmes that have more adult themes. So when my son started showing a keen interest in all that was Winnie the Pooh I was delighted. At last! My son and I can watch a fantastic programme that has delighted children for many years.

Aladdin
Review of Aladdin DVD by
jamiemazza
Advantages: Fun,entertainment, re watch again and again. bous disc
Disadvantages: None
...the genre of the film Aladdin help it appeal to a wide audiences and not just children.
Walt Disney, one of the best companies in family entertainment produced Aladdin. It has produced lots animated films , including Bambi (1942), The Jungle Book (1967), and The Lion King (1994). Also produced or co produced a lot of live-action films, ranging from Mary Poppins (1964) to Pulp Fiction (1994) which was made by Miramax (their subsidiary company). I ... ...genre do this in Aladdin? Aladdin is the archetypal battle between good and evil with a twist, the genie and this is one of the reasons I love Aladdin. Aladdin meets the narrative theory of Propp, as it is a fairy tale, that there are 8 character roles and 31 functions that move the story on. You can see some of this in the sequence I have chosen in my sequence there is the 'princess' (Jasmine) the 'hero' (Aladdin) and The 'helper' (Genie and the ...
