Review of Harry Potter And The Philosopher's Stone DVD by frankie_loved

Advantages: Great film can watch it over an over again and not get bored
Disadvantages: square eyes from watching to many times

This was a great film and it starts the trilogy off extremly well, it just jumps in with excitment, fun and really tells you that there is a lot more in store for the veiwers in the next films even if you have not read the books you still get the nearly all the information and the things that are missed are not tha important and you can still really understand the film. It is a wonderful storyline and the author J K Rowling is a great writer and ...
...the most well known author in the world. All the characters really fit there set parts and makes the film that much more enjoyable to watch and you really just watch and grow with them. Shhh it's a secret!
Review of Harry Potter And The Chamber Of Secrets DVD by Suzela

Advantages: better than the first film and enjoyable
Disadvantages: it could have been much better

...up to the release of Harry Potter and The Order of the Phoenix DVD next month I have decided to review the previous films in the series. So this is number two in my series of reviews - Harry Potter and The Chamber of Secrets (2002). As I sat waiting for the second instalment of the Harry Potter film franchise to start, I kept thinking "Please be better than the first film" (I have a feeling my husband was thinking this too!). Yes I had enjoyed the ...
...In this film we see Harry and his friends return to Hogwarts for their second year where another plot is brewing to bring the evil lord Voldemort back to his former power. But this plot not only endangers Harry but all the pupils at Hogwarts. However on this occasion my apprehension was slightly less justified as I shall explain. From the very opening of the film you know this film is going down a darker path. The familiar orchestrated theme returns ... Read review

Review of Harry Potter And The Goblet Of Fire DVD by maccoll7

Advantages: Dictation of Languages, Subtitles, Special features
Disadvantages: Length, Language Subtitles, Some of the Acting

Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire is an Action - Packed adventure, with many a twist and many a turn. As most will know, this is the fourth of seven movies in the harry potter series, and is as action packed as its predecessors. Harry Potter is entering his fourth year of Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry, where the tri-wizard tournament occur, a student from each school is picked to go forward to represent their school where "eternal ...
...extra tri-wizard champion, and has to go forward with the tasks. Knowing the books very well, I instantly spotted parts of the books which have been missed out of the film, such as the Quidditch World Cup, which was disappointing, but including this in the film would have made this even longer than it already is. The actors who play the teachers portrays their character in the book perfectly, but some of the actors playing the students need a bit ... Read review

Review of Harry Potter And The Philosopher's Stone (Wide Screen) by Reviewersaad

Advantages: Good special effects, interesting characters, strong plot
Disadvantages: certain amusing things excluded

...I am a fan of Harry Potter books so forgive me if some of my opinions are little biased or if my expectations are too high. Philosopher\'s stone is a film that brings to life the magic of Harry Potter in a stunning way, setting your imagination free to roam the diverse world created by J K Rowling. The Philosopher\'s Stone is based on the first book in the harry Potter series. I shall now review some aspects of the film and rate them individually ...
...The film is about Harry Potter\'s first year at Hogwarts. So, Harry Potter begins his dark and exciting journey to find the truth behind his parents\' murder and thrawt the evil Lord Voldemort in another scheme to take over the world. The book provides us with an exciting, unique and ... Read review

The plot thickens
Review of Harry Potter And The Chamber Of Secrets (Wide Screen) by grafter123

Advantages: Good plot,excellent cast,great special effects,good extras
Disadvantages: None for me

This Harry Potter DVD was taken from the second book in the saga.As the second movie, ardent fans had already been introduced to the film characters. For fans of the books it is a reasonable representation. For newcomers it is an easy to pick up tale without knowing the background. There is ,however, at the start of the dvd brief clips from the first film which help set the scene.Having said that it still has its whodunnit element entwined with suspense, ...
...in their best oufits. Upstairs Harry has a surprise visit from a house elf called Dobby. This is our first introduction to Dobby and the concept of house elves. He is a computer generated character and is brilliant and funny. Now house elves have to obey their owner and if the don't they must beat themselves up-literally. Dobby's seen slapping and thumping himself on a regular basis. They also only wear rags ,such as an old tea towel , as ,if they ... Read review
