Great to see Pat on Dvd, but a tad too short
Review of Postman Pat Clowns Around DVD by
bud1984
Advantages: Great for toddlers
Disadvantages: bit too short
I used to love Postman Pat as a child,. so I was pleasantly surprised when I saw a newer version on TV. My Son (3) also seemed delighted, and that's why we decided to get a Postman Pat DVD. Postman Pat Clowns around consists of 3 episodes, each around 15-20 minutes long. All 3 episodes are entertaining, and my son's enjoyed watching this DVD over and over and over. The only slight niggle is the length, which comes in at just under an hour. To me, ... ...it too short, and so Postman Pat has to go on again straight after it's just finished. I don't think I'd pay over £4 for it, because of the length. However, one very good thing about the DVD is that there are no childrens' TV ads at the beginning to sift through or skip, it's just straight onto the menu. All in all, it's good to see Pat back on DVD, just don't pay too much for it. ...

Postman Pat delivers, again!
Review of Postman Pat - Postman Pat And The Ice Cream Machine DVD by
mikefnw75
Advantages: Funny plots, great animation, four great tales.
Disadvantages: Poor extras
I'm sure you all remember Postman Pat, who could possilby forget the wonderful theme tune? It is arguably the best ever child's theme tune. Well he's back after a ten year rest, in Postman Pat's Ice Cream Machine! I've been fortunate enough to watch the DVD numerous times thanks to my wonderful two year old son and I thought I'd share mine and his thoughts with you.
***OVERVIEW****
This DVD covers four stories:
Ted Glyn's amazing invention
A ... ...The animation in the new Postman Pat tales are impressive and a real improvement on the original in terms of smoothness and their quality.
*** CHILD'S VIEW***
My two year old loves this and my ten month son is growing more and more keen. We quite often keep the neighbours entertained with a rendition of the theme song. He loves Pat and of course Jess and the red van. However there are so many other great characters like PC Selby, Ted Glyn, Sanjay ...

Postman Pat teaches alphabet and numbers
Review of Postman Pat's ABC and 123 DVD by
dryice
Advantages: It actually works.
Disadvantages: Hand-drawn animation rather than models, but otherwise ok.
Unlike the TV series, this DVD contains drawn animation rather than the animated models. However, this doesn't seem to make any difference to my son, who will soon be 3 years old. He watches this disc several times a week.
There are two main programmes on the disc. The first is for teaching the alphabet, and the second is for teaching numbers 1 to 10.
The alphabet is divided into 4 sections; A..G, H..N, O..U and V..Z, with each section in a selectable ... ...with my son, I wasn't convinced that he would learn from it, but I was proved wrong. I'd already been teaching him letters, but this disc seemed to reinforce it, and he knows all the letters of the alphabet, with their correct names and very good pronunciation.
Similarly with numbers, he counts to 10 very well having watched this disc a number of times. I only wish it took them further - perhaps on to 20, just to show how we form numbers in the ...
