The little mermaid is one of the best disney films ever made, the second film was just as successful, the newer film which was released on the 26th August, which i have not yet watched but have seen the trailers and it seems very good. The original film (the first one) was great to watch and was definatly my favourite, but that may be changed by the 3rd film which i am just about to watch! I'm a huge fan of Hayao Miyazaki movies but this particular movie is without a doubt one of my favourites. Not only is it family friendly enough for my 4 and 10 year old sisters, the adults of the house can enjoy the delightful dashes of romance, the underlying humour and sarcasm and the all too relatable themes of war and corrupt power. ...family is watching it as I write this review and even after 7 viewings, it still manages to steal everyone's attention. The fact that it is set in a fantasy land of sorcerers, demons and interactive scarecrows just adds to its charm. I use to watch the Herbie films when I was really young and loved them. Getting older I have not grown out of this! Love Bug - When we first meet Herbie. ...I own all 3 in the series. I love the animation and the soundtrack. I have also seen the musical and have never been disappointed. The features on the special edition DVD are audio commentary from the film's producer and directors Rob Minkoff & Roger Allers, deleted scenes, making of featurette, abandoned concepts, Virtual safari, Personality Profile game and an interactive menu.
