Lurrrvvvv the Bug
Review of The Herbie Collection (Box Set) (Limited Edition) by
Icklerae
Advantages: All ages can enjoy it
Disadvantages: Lindsey Lohans version
I use to watch the Herbie films when I was really young and loved them. Getting older I have not grown out of this!
Love Bug - When we first meet Herbie. With an excellent cast this film even those who hate car racing cannot not watch this film! Herbie is everyones dream car - though maybe not in body! He is clever, fast, cheeky and helpful. In this film we see him bought by Jim Douglas who realises there is more to Herbie than meets the eye. They ... ...sold him the car in the first place! The final big race comes up! It\'s Herbie or Peter - who will win?
Herbie Rides Again - Based in a Fire House and town roads, although not racing Herbie has not lost his charm and speed as he drives Mrs Steimence around the town whilst she does her knitting. This is about Herbie and his friends against Mr Hawk who wants to tear down the fire house where they live. Will he be scared into submission?

What do you mean I'm not a Dachshund?!
Review of The Ugly Dachshund DVD by
frankiecesca
Advantages: Fun, everyone can enjoy it and great dogs
Disadvantages: It's old
...Released back in 1966 the film was based on the book by G.B Stern and directed by Norman Toker.
The story:
Mark and Fran Garrison have a nice home and have a pet Dachshund, Danke. When she gives birth to puppies, Fran is intent on training them to be champions. However when Mark goes to pick up the puppies the vet, Dr Pruitt, tells him that Danke would be able to help nurse an abandoned Great Dane back to help as she could offer him milk. Mark ... ...thinks he's a Dachshund and the puppies run circles around him, letting him get the blame for everything they do that Fran thinks they possibly couldn't have done due to how innocent they all are!! It is not long before Mark decides to prove Fran and everybody else wrong and so enters Brutus in the dog show on the sly. Will he be able to train Brutus in time and get him to act like the Great Dane that he is? The cast:
Well for those who like their ...

The Little Car Takes First...And Third Place!!!
Review of The Love Bug DVD by
eve6kicksass
Advantages: Classic, Hilarious, and Crowd Pleasing Disney Classic
Disadvantages: Why couldn't all three actors be together for the commentary?
...lot of gloop written about the bond between a man and his automobile on how he hates it sometimes but mostly how he loves it. He showers gifts on it in the way of accessories and all that. He gets hysterical if someone scratches the paint or makes it lose face on the freeway. Maybe some of those feelings got into the machinery, I don't know. There is something real about that little car, something that doesn't even have a name. What I don't understand ... ...--- Jim Douglas
**********************************************************************
THE STORY ABOUT A CAR WITH A MIND OF ITS OWN
**********************************************************************
I'm telling you all right now, for a potentially silly Disney comedy filled with hilarious moments, these words that Jim Douglas (played by Dean Jones) says near the end of the film have a lot of poignancy to them; this is mainly because they ...

The Law's gone to the Dogs
Review of The Shaggy D.A. DVD by
Shroud
Advantages: funny without vulgarity, watchable for entire family incl adults, good underlying mesages, enaging storyline
Disadvantages: preferably watched after 1959's original version of The Shaggy Dog
In the 1970's Disney was churning out a lot of live action family films. Designed as a sequel to the popular 1959 film, The Shaggy Dog, in which a young boy, Wilby, uses a magic ring to turn himself into a dog and gets into scrapes, the Shaggy DA follows the young lad once again as an adult. He has graduated from university with a law degree, and is a respected member of the community. The town's district attorney is a crooked man, however, and tired ... ...Wilby decides to run for the office of District Attorney. Unfortunately, someone has stolen the magic ring, and he keeps turning into a hairy sheepdog. Who has stolen the ring, and will he be successful in his quest to restore justice?
This film is rather underrated. This is quality slapstick comedy, and while younger members of the family may not grasp the finer points of the storyline, they will definitely get the gags. The jokes are pretty high ...

All the classic herbies together
Review of Herbie Collection DVD by
alysonsbacon
Advantages: Great value. All the classic herbies together
Disadvantages: none!!
...adventure begins!! Unwanted at first, Herbie soon gains the love of his new owner. Together they get into all sorts of trouble and harrowing situations. Hindered initially by one of those villans you just love to hate, Herbie comes up trumps as the good guy always should. I really enjoyed this film. It had me nooked from the off. There was plenty of high speed action and some comical stunts everyone will enjoy.
"Herbie Rides Again"
This second ... ...of the finishing post leaving Herbie and his friends triumphant once more. With more high speed chases and spectacular stunts this is definately a must see. I would rate it higher than the first. Although once you've become attached to Herbie, you'll want to see al his adventures
"Herbie Goes to Monte Carlo"
In this adventure Herbie heads for the Paris to Monte Carlo Racing Competition. Here Herbie encounters a 'sleeky, sporty, light blue Lancia'. ...
