What is the Chamber's Secret?
Advantages: good story, great effects, great acting
Disadvantages: Big chunks of the book missing
Harry Potter finds himself being back at Privet Drive with his Aunt and Uncle as it is the school holidays, he is quite sad that none of his friends have written to him and is feeling very lonely. He receives a surprise visit from a house elf called Dobby and he soon finds out that his friends have been writing to him and Dobby has been stopping the letters from getting to him. Great boxset!
Advantages: Convenient to keep them together. Great prices around.
Disadvantages: Individual boxes smaller than normal.
In my opinion this boxset (bought for £17 from HMV) was great value. It was much cheaper than buying all individually. I only had one of the movies on dvd and had the earlier ones on VHS so I needed an update. All five parts are great quality films! It's handy that all five come in separate boxes within the one cover because they won't get lost. Each individual box is smaller than the normal DVD box size and perhaps this is worth noting.

...for family viewing although it is worth bearing in mind that the films seem to get a bit more scary as they progress (number 5 is particularly scary). Parental guidance is reccommended if buying this movie for very young children. In my opinion the violence and fear-factor is mild-to-moderate but is no worse than a lot of movies nowadays.
I do wonder what will happen when the sixth movie is released on dvd and whether a new boxset will be available ...

Modern Day Mary Poppins?
Advantages: great family film
Disadvantages: probably only watch once
OK, so I'm nearly 23 but I've wanted to see this film since I saw it advertised when it was at the cinema. Not being able ton convince anyone that they too want to watch it I decided to watch it once lonely Saturday night. I had visioned a bit of a twist on Mary Poppins but this wasn't to be. I do not want to give away the plot. The film is aimed at children however I did enjoy it! It did have it's twists and turns and so the plot wasn't entirely ...
...of the film is but I wouldn't recommend letting young children watch it alone, anything about 8 or 10 will probably be fine on their own. This film had some great acting from Colin Firth but inparticular from Simon, the young boy. I'm sure I've seen him in something before but can't quite place what. Children will find the film funny and perhaps scary in parts but it's a non stop film with no scenes there just to fill. Great family film for a rainy ...

It'll be an awfully big adventure...
Advantages: Sticks to the book very well
Disadvantages: None that I could find

Having read the book it is suggested that we try and watch as many film derivatives of the novel as we have time to do, as in this way we can be aware of how that novel has infiltrated popular culture. The film derivative I chose to watch first was the 2003 Peter Pan, which was directed by P.J. Hogan.

a blast from the past.
Advantages: great story line
Disadvantages: not really any disavantages
...from my childhood. Love the transformers then and still do now the polt of the movie is optimus prime and the autobots have to save their home planet from megatron and the decepacons. With the decepacons trying everything in their power to gain contorl of the atuobots world a hugh battle comes to a cliff hanger. Great movie, Great story line and Great drawing. If you want a one to watch from your past get this and you will be taken back to your childhood ...
