SMELL BAD!!!
Review of Labyrinth (Collector's Edition) by
Expired-Account
Advantages: Fantastic timeless family film, Jim Henson's direction, David Bowie's music
Disadvantages: Not the best actors in the world
...same friend suggested we watched Labyrinth I decided this was probably a good idea. Apparently this is another one of those films that everyone has seen, both my boyfriend and our friend were again shocked and horrified that I hadn't seen this one. So over the weekend I decided to watch Labyrinth, having been told nothing about the story, I thought this would avoid being disappointed. The film opens with a young girl addressing camera about a magical ... ...to find her father and wicked stepmother leaving her with the baby. After hours of inconsolable crying Sarah (Jennifer Connelly) can stand it no longer, she calls to the goblin king and asks him to take this baby away. In the blink of an eye the goblin king Jarreth (David Bowie) appears, when Sarah begs him to give her baby brother back he refuses, the only way she can get him back is to get to the castle through the labyrinth. The film follows Sarah's ...

A Tale For Two Pence
Review of Garfield - A Tail Of Two Kitties DVD by
Nathan_Innit
Advantages: Garfield makes the only laughs of the film
Disadvantages: The rest of the performances are wooden
...The sequel to the original Garfield movie happened to fall into my possession because my mother got it as a Christmas present. Admittedly, when she borrowed the original film off a friend (who was borrowing it off her grandchild) I did sit down and watch it with her. Garfield created a lot of laughs so when my mum stuck the DVD into the player as something to watch over the Christmas period that should be quite innocent and easy-going I sat down ... ...don't know in the movie Garfield is computer-animated, not a real cat, with the rest of the people and his surroundings actually being real life. Garfield is voiced by Bill Murray, and Garfield's owner - Jon - is played by Breckin Meyer in a change of roles to what I'm used to seeing him in. It took me a while but I soon realised that Breckin was the guy who played the lead role in Road Trip. Garfield also has a mut for a comparison in Odie, the ...

The Muppet Show. The Opening number
Review of The Muppet Show - Series 1 (Box Set) by
duskmaiden
Advantages: interesting to see how the show developed, the pilot episode
Disadvantages: not the best series for a casual fan to buy, Muppet morsels can be annotying, no listing of episodes
...about my favourite TV show The Muppets again. Disney (unfortunately) have bought out my beloved fuzzy puppets and to make their money's worth they have started to release box sets of the Muppet seasons. My old video box set ;s quality was starting to deteriorate due to overuse so I thought I would treat myself to Season One of the Muppet Show on DVFD when I saw it in the Amazon sale or a fantastic £17.99. The box set contains four DVDs and a whopping ... ...the Muppet Show ran for 24 episodes and was first shown in 1976 and 1977.
The Muppet Show was a take on the variety shows that used to be on TV such as Sunday Night at the Palladium.. It was made up of different songs and sketches performed by acts such as the Electric Mayhem Band, Miss Piggy and Fozzie Bear. These were held together by the capable flippers of Kermit the Frog. I am not usually one for going into detail about the packaging but there ...

A Classic Ballet performed by Barbie
Review of Barbie In The Nutcracker DVD by
jeannie.with.light.brown.hair
Advantages: A little girl's dream. Brings Classical Ballet to young children.
Disadvantages: Not of very much interest to boys.
...old grand daughter loves her Barbie dolls and she loves dancing. So what better present to buy her for her birthday than this DVD, Barbie in the Nutcracker.
She loves it and has watched it over and over again.
The film starts with Barbie and Shelly practising the Nutcracker Suite. Shelly like all children begins to get frustrated and cross so Barbie tells her the story behind the dance, Clara and the Nutcracker.
The film moves to a Victorian Christmas ... ...other characters look like a Barbie doll. The dancing is very lifelike. It is based on a ballet company performing the dances so is very accurate to the ballet. . The music is performed by The London Symphony Orchestra and is quite marvellous.
The packaging reflects the story with the case and the DVD in pink with a picture of Barbie as Clara. The DVD cost me £14.99. Money well spent as my daughter has got so much pleasure from it. ...
