When I saw the line up Ben Stiller, Robin Williams, Ricky Gervais, Steve Coogan, Owen Wilson and even old timers Dick Van Dyke and Mickey Rooney, I just knew that this was a film I wanted to watch. Spy Kids The Real Heroes Advantages: Really good story, Inventive, Great for the whole family Disadvantages: This type of film has been done before ...rescue using all the latest spy gadgets. In the truest sense Carmen and Juni become Spy Kids. Spy Kids is the first film of the Spy Kids trilogy, directed and written by Robert Rodriguez. Alexa Vega and Daryl Sabara also star in the film which was released back in 2001. The first Spy Kids was a feature film that was extremely popular with children and so they released another 2 movies. Stop the Sequels!!!. Advantages: You don't always have to wear 3-D glasses. Disadvantages: The Acting. It's Not 3-D. Spy Kids 3-D Plot. At the start of the movie, Juni Cortez (Daryl Sabara) the trilogy's junior James Bond comes out of retirement (Although we have no explanation why he retired in the first place), to rescue the mind of his sister Carmen Cortez (Alexa Vega), who has become trapped inside a virtual reality video game.
