Shhh it's a secret!
Review of Harry Potter And The Chamber Of Secrets DVD by Suzela

Advantages: better than the first film and enjoyable
Disadvantages: it could have been much better

...up to the release of Harry Potter and The Order of the Phoenix DVD next month I have decided to review the previous films in the series. So this is number two in my series of reviews - Harry Potter and The Chamber of Secrets (2002). As I sat waiting for the second instalment of the Harry Potter film franchise to start, I kept thinking "Please be better than the first film" (I have a feeling my husband was thinking this too!). Yes I had enjoyed the ...
...In this film we see Harry and his friends return to Hogwarts for their second year where another plot is brewing to bring the evil lord Voldemort back to his former power. But this plot not only endangers Harry but all the pupils at Hogwarts. However on this occasion my apprehension was slightly less justified as I shall explain. From the very opening of the film you know this film is going down a darker path. The familiar orchestrated theme returns ... Read review

The plot thickens
Review of Harry Potter And The Chamber Of Secrets (Wide Screen) by grafter123

Advantages: Good plot,excellent cast,great special effects,good extras
Disadvantages: None for me

This Harry Potter DVD was taken from the second book in the saga.As the second movie, ardent fans had already been introduced to the film characters. For fans of the books it is a reasonable representation. For newcomers it is an easy to pick up tale without knowing the background. There is ,however, at the start of the dvd brief clips from the first film which help set the scene.Having said that it still has its whodunnit element entwined with suspense, ...
...in their best oufits. Upstairs Harry has a surprise visit from a house elf called Dobby. This is our first introduction to Dobby and the concept of house elves. He is a computer generated character and is brilliant and funny. Now house elves have to obey their owner and if the don't they must beat themselves up-literally. Dobby's seen slapping and thumping himself on a regular basis. They also only wear rags ,such as an old tea towel , as ,if they ... Read review

Harry Potter Number 5!!! Bring on the rest!!
Review of Harry Potter And The Order Of The Phoenix DVD by pmcds

Advantages: Great action tale. Great cast
Disadvantages: Die-hard Potter fans will be disappointed in the lack of some subplots

...the transition of the famed Harry Potter books from paper to screen. The first four films have outstanding moments, but also disappoint the die hard Potter fan in so many ways. Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix is no different, as many of the details included in the book have been omitted from or amended in the film. However, do not despair. It is still an edge-of-your-seat adventure that people will love. The Plot In this Potter tale, ...
...evil Lord Voldemort has returned. Harry returns to Hogwarts, where the Ministry of Magic has intervened and installed one of its own as a teacher: Dolores Umbridge. She is a controlling bureaucrat who has to do everything by the letter of the law. Soon enough, teachers and pupils alike are accused of not conforming to Hogwarts and Ministry rules and regulations, and Harry Potter and his companions, including the headmaster of Hogwarts, Dumbledore, ... Building to a Crescendo
Review of Harry Potter And The Order Of The Phoenix DVD by afy9mab

Advantages: Radcliffe is much improved and the storyis darker than previous instalments.
Disadvantages: Some dodgy effects work and plot holes in abundance.

As Harry Potter returns to Hogwarts for his fifth year, he finds much of the wizarding community has been misled about his recent encounter with Lord Voldemort. Branded a liar by the Ministry of Magic, its head decides the academy is out of control. So he appoints Dolores Umbridge as the new Defence Against the Dark Arts teacher. However, her government-approved course leaves the young wizards unprepared to confront the massing dark forces that threaten ...
...where in the real world Harry and his bullying cousin are chased through an arid summer landscape by faceless Dementors. He partly achieves this with his use of handheld cameras that bring a sense of immediacy to the events while adding a sense of danger. But he counterpoints this with moments of comedy, such as Mr Weasley's incomprehension of and wonderment at the real world or the ever longer list of decrees as Umbridge takes over. However, there ... Read review
