Great boxset!
Advantages: Convenient to keep them together. Great prices around. Disadvantages: Individual boxes smaller than normal.
In my opinion this boxset (bought for £17 from HMV) was great value. It was much cheaper than buying all individually. I only had one of the movies on dvd and had the earlier ones on VHS so I needed an update. All five parts are great quality films! It's handy that all five come in separate boxes within the one cover because they won't get lost. Each individual box is smaller than the normal DVD box size and perhaps this is worth noting.
I've watched ... ...for family viewing although it is worth bearing in mind that the films seem to get a bit more scary as they progress (number 5 is particularly scary). Parental guidance is reccommended if buying this movie for very young children. In my opinion the violence and fear-factor is mild-to-moderate but is no worse than a lot of movies nowadays.
I do wonder what will happen when the sixth movie is released on dvd and whether a new boxset will be available ...

Nothing but class and humour thoughout
Advantages: Excellent value and a timeless classic that you would watch time and again. Disadvantages: Not quite the same if you don't watch it with the kids.
If you havn’t seen this yet, then where have you been? A masterclass in children’s entertainment from the creators of Shrek and Toy Story. With a classic sense of fun, humour and adventure with a cracking storyline that appeals to the younger and adult audiences. Billy Crystal, John Goodman, Steve Buscemi and many more bring the characters to life in a manner that draws you into the film and twangs those emotional strings. The town of ‘Metropolis’, ... ...setting where the energy of the town is reliant on the screams of children living in a parallel universe and collected by monsters that live at the bottom of your bed.
The World is turned upside down by the arrival of ‘Boo’ in an hilarious and heart warming tale.
This is a timeless classic that will continue to bring on the laughter for years to come. I have seen the film more than once and each time it delights as you notice different adult quips ...

harry Potter and the Philosopher's stone,a fantastic film for all
Advantages: fantastic storyline and special effects Disadvantages: slightly long
In my opinion Harry Potter and the philosopher's stone is an excellent film. The transition from book to film has been done with outstanding accuracy. The special effects throughout the film are spectacular without being ridiculous. The characters are easy to relate to and are not portrayed as being unrealistic and therefore becoming untrue role models for today's children. The moral thread running through the film makes this a great one for the ...

Third Best 'A Christmas Carol' film
Advantages: Looks very Christmassy, Well Directed Disadvantages: The people look creepy
...for those who live in a hole or have dementia, A Christmas Carol is the story of Ebonezer Scrooge (Jim Carey) and is passage by fire from twisted, grumpy, old miser who hates Christmas to the very opposite (except he stays old). After the death of Scrooge's business partner, Scrooge has got even more miserable and spiteful than ever and everyone fears and avoids him. Even his sole employee, Bob Cratchet (Gary Oldman) lives in misery, not allowed ... ...this film is so fantastic a telling, this would merely enhance the tediousness of an overly told story but the computer generated recreation and the direction of this film make it wonderful to watch. It’s directed by Robert Zemeckis, the man responsible for The Polar Express and Beowulf . He uses the same sort of 3-D capturing here that he used in those films. Basically this is a technique were he captures the movements etc. of real actors and ...

NIGHT AT THE MUSEUM
FILM ONLY REVIEW
Night of the Museum is a 2006 film that was adapted from the 1993 children's book by Milan Trenc of the same name. When I saw the line up Ben Stiller, Robin Williams, Ricky Gervais, Steve Coogan, Owen Wilson and even old timers Dick Van Dyke and Mickey Rooney, I just knew that this was a film I wanted to watch. Night at the Museum opens with sad sack Larry Daley (Ben Stiller) about to need to relocate. ... ...he will become the new night guard. Cecil, Gus and Reginald (Dick Van Dyke, Mickey Rooney and Bill Cobbs) are the three aging and eccentric guards who are being downsized in favour of young Larry. What Larry doesn't know is that these three men have been holding down a considerably more complicated stronghold than anyone could have imagined after the sun goes down on the museum. Larry is about to find out that being a night guard is less about peace ...
