Whoa Marian!

Advantages: Childhood memories, hasn't lost its charm, and still makes me laugh
Disadvantages: Quite expensive, perhaps not to everyone's taste as aimed primarily at children

...the DVD. Maid Marian series 1 was released on DVD in March 2006, and had been sitting on my Amazon wishlist ever since - one of those things I'd quite like, but not at the top of my priorities. At Christmas (2007) I ordered a load of stuff from Amazon from my husband to myself (rather than him buying me presents which I don't really want), and this was one of the things I ordered. Maid Marian and her Merry Men was originally shown on BBC1 in 1989, ...
...still. We often watched Maid Marian together, and sang along to the theme tune - we both enjoyed it. To be honest I don't remember a great deal about the show (I suppose it was quite a while ago now - I didn't see it when it was rerun in 2001), except for the theme tune - "Why don't you, carry on, with what you're doing, blah blah blah, blah blah, blah, blah, blah blah, blah, blah blah…" It doesn't sound like I even remember that very well. I remember ...

Alice in Wonderland - William Sterling 1972

Advantages: True to the story,
Disadvantages: The music is a bit dreary

...Michael Jayston as Lewis Carroll. Alice's Adventures In Wonderland won two prizes at the 1973 British Academy of Film and Theatre Awards -- for Georfrey Unsworth's photography and Anthony Mendelson's costume design. ~ Mark Deming, All Movie Guide This adaptation of Lewis Carroll's weird and wonderful book tries hard to do justice to its source, but doesn't quite get there. The music by John Barry is saccharine and unmemorable for the most part; ...
...Gryphon (Michael Hordern and Spike Milligan, inspired casting!) lead Alice in a mad dance. Overall, you can pick up on the very few bad points of this version of the film but it is overall out weighed by the good overall. For the time, the effects and the costumes were very good indeed and the imagination and use of colour in it can be classed as excellent for the time. If you must compare this toe anything done now, so be it, but you will then ...

Good fun!

Advantages: Dialogue, cracking pace, excellent animation
Disadvantages: May not be suitable for children who are old enough to understand innuendo

...for adults as well and Ice Age 3 certainly delivered on that front. I've seen Ice Age2 on TV but not the first film and never in the cinema. On top of that this was a 3D show. The story essentially follows Manny, the mammoth, his heavily pregnant wife, Ellie and Diego, the sabre toothed tiger as they venture under the ice to a land where dinosaurs are not extinct. They do this to try and rescue Sid, who feeling unloved due to the impending arrival ...
...subsequently been carried off with his 'children' by their real mother. In dinosaur world they meet Buck, the weasel with the Sylvester Stallone eyepatch and knife, the British accent (Simon Pegg voices him) and the literary connections to Captain Ahab of Moby Dick (both have been left injured by 'the great white beast', both are unnaturally obsessed and slightly unhinged by it). As a sideline, Scratt is still seeking his acorn but this time there ...

"I thought you guys were extinct?"

Advantages: amazing picture quality, good fun for all the family!
Disadvantages: Cant think of any.

I bought my wife Ice Age 3 for Christmas. She asked for it. Can't say its my type of film, but being a loving husband I sat down and watched it with her anyway. The first thing that struck me, being a blu ray, is the amazing quality. Animated films and comic-esque outings (like the Simpsons) always take full advantage of the High Definition nature of blu ray and make a movie a pleasure for the eye to behold. Ice Age 3 is quite possibly the best example ...
...were apparently living below the ice and meeting a swash buckling weasel who helps save the day. All the while, we get to watch the fun adventures of the little chap chasing his acorn, that have been present in the past films. This time, there's a love interest!! Its quite a good watch and plenty of fun for all the family. The usual deleted scenes and such are present, I can't say I watched them though, sorry, but its not my cup-of-tea, as I said. ...

PAINT THE WHOLE WORLD.

Advantages: THE KIDDIES WILL LOVE WATCHING IT
Disadvantages: NOTHING

RAINBOW "Up above the streets and houses, Rainbow climbing high, Everyone can see it smiling over the sky”. “Paint the whole word with a Rainbow” First aired in 1972 and ran for an incredible 20 years and contained an astonishing 1071 episodes. The general format was, what is quite common now, where it would be on twice a week, usually for around 15 – 20 minutes. It was aimed squarely at kids and contained some iconic figures that ...
...revolved around adventures to go on, usually around the house, or more likely problems to be solved. It would always be resolved by the puppets or by a song. Cast: = Zippy Loud and opinionated and always right about everything, well in his mind. George A shy pink hippo, go figure? He was always getting into trouble. Bungle A huge brown and very clumsy bear. Very unfrightening and a bit dozey. Geoffrey The father figure of the group and ...
