Talking Polar Bears!?!?! Advantages: Some good special effects Disadvantages: Poor ending, repetitive, poor acting by some ...night I decided to give the Golden Compass a go. Released in December 2007 this film was based on Phillip Pullman's 'His Dark Materials' books. There was a huge amount of hype and publicity surrounding the release of this film but did it live up to it's hype? In my opinion no! A Painful 71 Mins Advantages: Funny In Small Moments Disadvantages: Same Old Story ...Its about a pigeon called valiant who dreams of being a homing bird. Him and his friends joing the elite royal homing service and go on an mission the small country bird finally becomes a hero to the girl bird. Its like about 1000 other animated movies where he overcomes something finds confidance and ends up kissing a girl. There was the odd funny moment but nothing gut hurling. It's a Hoot! Advantages: nice family film Disadvantages: none Hoot is a movie made for children back in 2006. I sat and watched it with my almost six year old daughter and although I couldn't say that it's the greatest film ever, it is quite watchable with a decent storyline. The film is set in Florida so it does have some excellent scenery and also some lovely shots of birdlife too. At the start of the film we meet Roy Eberhardt (Logan Lerman), a teenaged boy who has just moved to Florida with his parents. ... ...rush to watch again.
