Riveting Robots?

Advantages: Fun film with a strong voice cast and good animation
Disadvantages: In the face of stronge competition, it doesn't quite match up

...the old, nuts and bolts robots with the shiny futuristic robots keeps your interest. It also goes to show that you can't judge a robot by its upgrades as the line between goodie and baddie cannot be drawn based on the appearance of a robot. The humour in the film is fairly traditional Robin Williams though with some moments of Mel Brooks (yes, that's one of the voices to look for). It is family friendly, but with the odd reference thrown in to delight ...

Review of Robots (DVD)

Great fun DVD with a stellar cast

Advantages: Funny amusing rib-tickler of a familly film (and that means you too!)
Disadvantages: A little formulaic but you can look past that

...then relax and enjoy, because Robots will entertain. Plot Summary The story is set in a Robot world where our hero protagonist Rodney Copperbottom (voiced by Ewan McGregor) is dreaming inventor who wants to go to the big city and meet the great inventor Big Weld (the wonderful Mel Brooks) to get new spare parts for his dad. However we are missing the principle audience of this movie, which (amongst others) is my 4 years old son, who absolutely adores it. Review of Robots (Gift Set) (DVD And Action Figure) (DVD)

An outstanding genuis

Advantages: Highly entertaining and very funny
Disadvantages: none

This story is centered on an eith year old who was accidentally left behind when his family takes off for a chrismas vacation to france, To survive, he adapted himself to the care of his well beign, his home and his nieghborhood from burglars. When Kevin McCallister is accidentally left 'home alone' by his family, vacationing in France, he takes his house into his own hands and haves himself his own vacation. Review of Ice Age / Chicken Run / Home Alone / Mrs Doubtfire / James And The Giant Peach (DVD)

Good fun!

Advantages: Dialogue, cracking pace, excellent animation
Disadvantages: May not be suitable for children who are old enough to understand innuendo

...for adults as well and Ice Age 3 certainly delivered on that front. I've seen Ice Age2 on TV but not the first film and never in the cinema. On top of that this was a 3D show. The story essentially follows Manny, the mammoth, his heavily pregnant wife, Ellie and Diego, the sabre toothed tiger as they venture under the ice to a land where dinosaurs are not extinct. They do this to try and rescue Sid, who feeling unloved due to the impending arrival ...
...subsequently been carried off with his 'children' by their real mother. In dinosaur world they meet Buck, the weasel with the Sylvester Stallone eyepatch and knife, the British accent (Simon Pegg voices him) and the literary connections to Captain Ahab of Moby Dick (both have been left injured by 'the great white beast', both are unnaturally obsessed and slightly unhinged by it). Review of Ice Age 3 - Dawn Of The Dinosaurs (DVD)

"I thought you guys were extinct?"

Advantages: amazing picture quality, good fun for all the family!
Disadvantages: Cant think of any.

I bought my wife Ice Age 3 for Christmas. She asked for it. Can't say its my type of film, but being a loving husband I sat down and watched it with her anyway. The first thing that struck me, being a blu ray, is the amazing quality. Animated films and comic-esque outings (like the Simpsons) always take full advantage of the High Definition nature of blu ray and make a movie a pleasure for the eye to behold. Ice Age 3 is quite possibly the best example ...
...were apparently living below the ice and meeting a swash buckling weasel who helps save the day. All the while, we get to watch the fun adventures of the little chap chasing his acorn, that have been present in the past films. This time, there's a love interest!! Its quite a good watch and plenty of fun for all the family. The usual deleted scenes and such are present, I can't say I watched them though, sorry, but its not my cup-of-tea, as I said. ...
