Do You Believe?

Advantages: festive family fun, good story, great acting
Disadvantages: None from me

I think that it is fast becoming a Christmas tradition that this film is now shown every year around this time. I was in for a shock this year when I sat down to watch it though as my eldest, William who is 7, can and snuggled up and sat and watched the whole thing and thoroughly enjoyed ever bit of it. This is a FILM ONLY review. Kris Kringle is a happy old man who lands himself a job working as Santa in Coles department store. It is here he meets ...
...top employers at Coles. Susan has now been told by her mother that Santa is not real so she no longer believes in him. Coles store is under pressure from a rival company who is trying to buy them out but luckily for them Kris Kringle is such a massive success at the store he helps to start to save them. He tells people where to find the toys which their children ask for at the lowest possible price. Susan is also taken by Kris as she thinks he is ...

Third Best 'A Christmas Carol' film

Advantages: Looks very Christmassy, Well Directed
Disadvantages: The people look creepy

...for those who live in a hole or have dementia, A Christmas Carol is the story of Ebonezer Scrooge (Jim Carey) and is passage by fire from twisted, grumpy, old miser who hates Christmas to the very opposite (except he stays old). After the death of Scrooge's business partner, Scrooge has got even more miserable and spiteful than ever and everyone fears and avoids him. Even his sole employee, Bob Cratchet (Gary Oldman) lives in misery, not allowed ...
...this film is so fantastic a telling, this would merely enhance the tediousness of an overly told story but the computer generated recreation and the direction of this film make it wonderful to watch. It’s directed by Robert Zemeckis, the man responsible for The Polar Express and Beowulf . He uses the same sort of 3-D capturing here that he used in those films. Basically this is a technique were he captures the movements etc. of real actors and ...

Riveting Robots?

Advantages: Fun film with a strong voice cast and good animation
Disadvantages: In the face of stronge competition, it doesn't quite match up

...meets an eclectic bunch of robots who show him how to survive metropolitan life. Rodney's skills are soon necessary as the evil robot, Ratchet, who is now running Bigweld threatens the survival of his new friends and potentially that of his aging parents. SO SHOULD I SEE IT? "Robots" is a great little film. I cannot honestly rate it as highly as some of my animated favourites such as Shrek, Ice Age, Kung Fu Panda or really any of the Pixars. However, ...
...the old, nuts and bolts robots with the shiny futuristic robots keeps your interest. It also goes to show that you can't judge a robot by its upgrades as the line between goodie and baddie cannot be drawn based on the appearance of a robot. The humour in the film is fairly traditional Robin Williams though with some moments of Mel Brooks (yes, that's one of the voices to look for). It is family friendly, but with the odd reference thrown in to delight ...

What some will do for their nuts!

Advantages: Funniy, educational (to an extent), more original than I'd expected
Disadvantages: A bit strange, but only a bit!

...the films available already, but Ice Age was among those I’d not yet seen. You’ll notice this is not my typical film, but I am going to give it a go at reviewing anyway! Story Well, you’ll never guess when this film is set! That’s right, in the Ice Age! Well, this first film is set right at the start. All the animals are migrating to better ground, except for a mammoth called Manfred or Manny, who seems to be going the wrong way. He then meets ...
...with two angry rhinos, and helps him out. Unfortunately, he didn’t bank on Sid then deciding to make him his personal bodyguard and follow him around everywhere! Then the two find a baby, that a sabre-toothed tiger, called Diego is trying to claim as his own, and they decide to return the baby to its people, with the tiger guiding them. But can they trust Diego? I love the way this film mixes in all the different animals that surely would never ...
