Hook
Review of Hook DVD by
daxus100
Advantages: Wonderful story
Disadvantages: none
Hook is one of my favorite childrens film as it takes a unique spin on the story of peter pan.It tells the story about a grown up peterpan who has forgotten who he is,he now has two children he is beggining to neglect as he is so busy making himself a sucess but he has to attend a party at wendys house(who is know a old lady) and memorys strart creeping back.Hook is getting onto and he misses the fun and fights with Peter so he kidnapps his children ... ...he is in time to save his children and put a end to hook.
What makes this film fabulous is not only the story but the fabulous Robin Williams who is such a fabulous actor,he warms your heart in this film and along with the children makes a fantastic performance.
He seems to have as much fun making this movie as the kids do which definatley comes across in the movie, its recomended for all ages and will keep both you and the kids busy for a few hours ...

Two magical games for the price of one
Review of Zathura: A Space Adventure / Jumanji (Box Set) (Collector's Edition) by
imogen49
Advantages: Imaginative story, special effects, drum rumble
Disadvantages: Duplication
This is a double DVD of two films inspired by the stories of Chris Van Allsburg. They are based on the same concept of kids playing a Board Game for real with magic and mystery, which is presumably why these two DVDs are packaged together. Zathura, according to the author, is a follow up to Jumanji. However, they are two very different films in terms of quality and interest.
Jumanji - the film
Jumanji is the story of Alan Parish who discovers and ... ...with his friend Sarah without really looking at it closely. The doom ridden saying of "Do not begin unless you intend to finish" is not noticed but then who pays such attention when you are a kid. Even if they had, they still would not have realised about the awesome power of the game. You know something is up when the pieces move on their own. Something is definitely up when he gets sucked into the game with the information "In the jungle, you must ...

Harry Potter DVD, 2 Disk Set
Review of Harry Potter And The Philosopher's Stone DVD by
e_coleuk
Advantages: Great film, great bonuses, magic!
Disadvantages: I wish they'd put out takes in
Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone
2 Disk DVD Set
This set originally cost £22.99 but has since come down in price considerably. Amazon now sells this set for £9.97 which is even better value for money.
PRODUCT DETAILS:
Aspect Ratio: 2.35 Wide Screen (If this edition)
Available Audio Tracks: Dolby Digital 5.1 Main Language: English Sub Titles: Arabic, English Hearing Impaired: English Disc Format: ... ...I don't think the first Harry Potter film can be beated. The second and third films came close. But the sheer impack, magic and originality of 'The Philosopher's Stone' was completely new back then, and its appeal continues.
This film has a heart-warming quality, perhaps because Harry's story calls out to a lot of people. Harry is an ordinary boy, bullied by his uncle, aunt and cousin, an orphan who believes his parents died in a car crash. But ...

Death by firefly?!
Review of Nim's Island DVD by
Mistybrook
Advantages: The animals.
Disadvantages: Plot holes galore.
...like Alex Rover and as Nim's father.
Bad things start to happen at the island and Nim reaches out for help to the one person she believes is a hero.
The storyline was dissapointing and the plot holes were enormous, there were a few humorous scenes but that was all. Gerard Butler was okay but you wouldn't really cast him in a scientists role. My favorite character was Alexandra and I liked the idea of her being an agraphobic and having to beat all ...

Overall excellent family film
Review of Night At The Museum DVD by
alisone5
Advantages: Very imaginative plot
Disadvantages: Dick Van Dyke turns out to be the baddie!
Night at the Museum is one of those films where you switch off the mobile phone, lock the door and settle down, because once you start watching this film, you'll be hooked by the storyline!
It is about Larry (Ben Stiller) who takes a steady jod as a night watchman in the Natural History Museum to prove to his Ex that he can take care of their 10 year old son. All is going well until the doors are locked and the sun goes down...everything comes alive! ... ...the display cabinets take over and run riot!
This is the beauty of this film, they obviously had a great time writing this film because anything can and will happen. Of course, it has a happy ending, but its a family film, and the child-at-heart, so if you're looking for a bit of distraction, this is the perfect film. ...
