Third Best 'A Christmas Carol' film
Advantages: Looks very Christmassy, Well Directed Disadvantages: The people look creepy
...for those who live in a hole or have dementia, A Christmas Carol is the story of Ebonezer Scrooge (Jim Carey) and is passage by fire from twisted, grumpy, old miser who hates Christmas to the very opposite (except he stays old). After the death of Scrooge's business partner, Scrooge has got even more miserable and spiteful than ever and everyone fears and avoids him. Even his sole employee, Bob Cratchet (Gary Oldman) lives in misery, not allowed ... ...this film is so fantastic a telling, this would merely enhance the tediousness of an overly told story but the computer generated recreation and the direction of this film make it wonderful to watch. It’s directed by Robert Zemeckis, the man responsible for The Polar Express and Beowulf . He uses the same sort of 3-D capturing here that he used in those films. Basically this is a technique were he captures the movements etc. of real actors and ...

Kung Fu Panda
Advantages: A fabulous animated film for all ages Disadvantages: None
Kung Fu Panda is an American animated comedy film which was first released in 2008. It was directed by John Stevenson and Mark Osborne and runs for 92 minutes. It features the voices of many famous actors and actresses and is set in ancient China. ~The Plot~ I won't give too much away about the plot as it spoils it for those reviewers who have not yet had the pleasure of seeing the movie. The film centres around Po - an overweight, unfit panda who ... ...of better things. He aspires to be a kung-fu expert but doesn't stand a chance in hell of ever becoming that. A chance encounter sees Po chosen as the dragon warrior and the movie follows him being trained by kung-fu expert Master Shifu in order to defeat the much feared Tai Lung (a snow leapord) who is descending on the town in order to seek revenge on Master Shifu for past encounters. Only the dragon warrior would be capable of defeating Tai Lung, ...

What if the stories you told came to life?
Advantages: Magical story, fun family entertainment Disadvantages: Typical Sandler silly in places
...good at doing is telling bedtime stories with the help of a goggly eyed hamster and the children. But when their imaginative stories begin to come true, Skeeter sees an opportunity to get everything he's ever dreamed of. ~ Cast ~ Skeeter Bronson - Adam Sandler Jill - Keri Russell Mickey - Russell Brand Patrick - Jonathan Morgan Heit Bobbi - Laura Ann Kesling Kendall - Guy Pearce Barry Nottingham - Richard Griffiths Violet Nottingham - Teresa Palmer ... ...are attempting to steer the bedtime stories in a direction which will be beneficial to them by trying to add more grown up things into the stories such as sexy women, lots of money and revenge on those who deserve it. These parts are more comical and more appropriate for the adults in the audience which does make this a great film for the whole family. There is still a lingering of Sandler's stupid humour which pops up occasionally throughout the ...

Buy a Fly Swat
Advantages: A reasonable score. Disadvantages: Dreadful direction, writing and performances.
...of the new technology. The fly characters look like the ants from "A Bug's Life". They have rubbery skin textures, too few legs and spongy movements that suggest there are no underlying skeletal or muscular systems (yes, I know flies don't technically have them, but you know what I mean). Their eyes are over-large and glassy and there isn't enough movement in their faces, which reduces their expressiveness. Any hair they have moves as a solid mass, ... ...nice translucent wings, but you can't always see them. The humans are inexpressive and there is little differentiation between them. The quality of the backgrounds varies enormously. There are some beautiful skies and the water reflections are decent. There is one sequence with a shattering test tube in zero gravity that looks great. But some metallic surfaces are too shiny and others too dull. Overall there is a lack of different textures and the ...
