Talking Polar Bears!?!?! Advantages: Some good special effects Disadvantages: Poor ending, repetitive, poor acting by some ...night I decided to give the Golden Compass a go. Released in December 2007 this film was based on Phillip Pullman's 'His Dark Materials' books. There was a huge amount of hype and publicity surrounding the release of this film but did it live up to it's hype? In my opinion no! The Plot In this film humans souls are carried outside the body in the form of an animal called a 'demon'. Children of the 1980s will be blown away Advantages: great fun family film good all round for action adventure laughs and love Disadvantages: not for younger children in my opinion ...of the 80s and watched transformers as a child you will love and be blown away by this film.Im female and loved the action and adventure with some good laughs thrown in and of course a bit of a love story , i want a bumblebee of my own Wont go into story line as it will spoil it. lol. Anyone can cook...even a rat Advantages: Good story Disadvantages: People who dont like rats might not like it! BEWARE! CONTAINS SPOILERS AND PLOTLINE! THE STORY The story starts in a small house. We see in the field outside a rat called Remy, he has a keen sense of smell and has discovered that rat's dont have to eat what is from the garbage and likes to combine new foods together. His father however see's this as an oppourtunity for Remy to have a new job, as a rat poison food checker. Good, not great Advantages: It's tthe Simpsons! Disadvantages: It's a bit too long and convoluted at times The Simpsons series are brilliant. Witty, cleverly written satire that sometimes cuts very deep. The Simpsons movie tries to travel the same route but gets a little derailed. The idea (global environmental armaggeddon) is clever and ripe for plucking but somehow it falls a little bit flat. Strangely, the animation is almost too good for me - it's just not as two dimensional and YELLOW as I like my Simpsons. Parts of the plot are almost Southpark ...
