Advantages: great story and acting, excellent special effects Disadvantages: Big chunks of the book missing again

Advantages: Great laughs and slapstick humor Disadvantages: Can spoil the charm of the first movie
...and hated this film at the same time! I loved it because I am so fond of Timon and Pumba, but I hated it because it took away some of the charm one gets while watching the first Lion King. It was not at all pleasant for me to watch certain nice scenes in the first movie being reduced to pure coincidence or happening because of what I like to call the Timon-and-Pumba-Touch. However, I will still rate this film as four stars because if you do not take ... ...certain nice scenes in the Lion King 1, this is actually quite a nice film. The songs are nice and it provides an extremely humoristic and delightful break from the Circle of Life and Pride Rock. This film also incorporates the addition of new lovable characters, which I am sure will please any Disney Lover across the world. The story is narrated from Timon and Pumba's perspective. The two of them are settled quite comfortably in a movie theatre ...
Advantages: 2D version is fantastic Disadvantages: 3D version is terrible
...I am specifically concentrating on the Blu-ray version, which shows the movie in either 2D or 3D. Firstly, this is one of my favourite Christmas movies, and I couldn't wait for it to be released in 3D on Blu-ray. The movie comes with a very attractive Lenticular sleeve, with a huge '3D' on the front, all looks very promising. there are two discs in the box, a Blu-ray disc that shows the movie in either 2D or 3D, plus an additional disc that has the ... ...pairs of 3D glasses within the box. As soon as dark fell, my wife & I settled down to be amazed by the 3D effects, as we had been with Journey to the Centre of the Earth in 3D. Within 10 seconds, I wondered if I has the glasses on the wrong way around, but no, they were on correctly. Because I really wanted to love this version, I thought 'stick with it, your eyes will adjust and get used to it' Unfortunately they didn't, after less that 10 minutes, ...

Advantages: Clever, Insightful, story-in-a-story. Very much a feel-good movie. Disadvantages: Not many bonuses on the DVD
I rented this movie thinking it was going to be a silly look at the origins of the play/movie Peter Pan. I was right, but it was so much more. Depp plays the very eccentric creator of Peter Pan, a Victorian-era playwright who's career and marrage were going down the drain fast. One day he meets a widowed neighbor (Winslet) and her kids. Although he resists falling in love with her for as long as is proper, he is quite taken with the kids and "plays ... ...for them to be spending so much time together, but it was something he needed. His charachter was a child, just like Peter Pan, that never grew up... So his time with those kids was like fuel for his soul and the Play, Peter Pan was the result.
Naturally it all came at a price, his wife leaves him (good riddance, I say) and other tragic events happen too. It can be heart-wrenching at times. But there is a rare goodness about it. His feelings for ...
