Advantages: Nice story and songs, little Melody looks like a perfect mix of her parents! Disadvantages: A bit simplistic and not very powerful
The original Little Mermaid was needless to say a Disney classic with beautiful songs and a touching story. Therefore I was certainly apprehensive when purchasing this second installment as a present. I decided to watch it as well just to see what it was like, and though I wasn't blown away, I was pleasantly surprised. Though nothing can come close to the original, in this film the story shifts to Ariel's little daughter Melody, who though is human ... ...a very different side to the story where the main song is actually about the wonders of being a mermaid, unlike the original which was about the wonders of being human! All in all, nothing too memorable but a worthy attempt at rekindling the magic of the original, and even better for kids who love mermaids as my little niece does! ...

...to him as he believes Joseph is a gift from God. Joseph's nine brothers decide they've had enough of him so sell him into slavery. I know, heartwarming stuff, isn't it. Anyway, after a long series of events, Joseph is given a powerful position in Egypt (he's from Canan - don't know why the Egyptians are letting foregners rule their country) by the Pharoah, and saves Egypt from a great famine. Surprisingly, the films stays close to the bible. I am a former Christian so have spent hours reading my bible and from what I can remember, the stroy in the film is exactly the same as that in the bible. However, it's not just for Christians (& Jews - they have the same story in their bible, don't they?) - it can be enjoyed by anyone. For a bible story there isn't much reference to God. Meigel and Toolio (the main character thieves) escape from jail and steal a boat and their horse. They make it to the island of Elderado, and they make their way through the maps obsticles to find the lost city.

...'The Emperor's New Groove,' at the cinema when it first came out. Although I was not blown away in the same way I was with 'The Lion King,' or 'Lilo and Stitch,' I did leave the cinema feeling as though I had enjoyed myself. Not enough, however, to purchase the original DVD release. When the collector's edition came how, though, I just had to have it. As I die-hard Disney fanatic I would have been a cardinal sin not to. I purchased my copy for £17.99 ... ...it much cheaper now.
The story itself was not excellent, but the characters were fabulous. Disney never fail to deliver in this aspect of their animated film production.
