Good old Mr Toad!

Advantages: funny, appeals to all ages, good actors
Disadvantages: you will likely already know the plot

This is the latest version on dvd of the Wind in the Willows which was released out on dvd 26/03/2007. I found this version of the classic tale to be the greatest version yet and i think Matt Lucas from little Britain play a quality character as good old Mr Toad. The holy grail of mecha!

Advantages: Awesome animation with deep storylines and characters!

Review of Gundam Wing - Endless Waltz - The Movie (DVD)

Roald rules

Advantages: Brilliant story, well adapted for teh screen
Disadvantages: The real life bits

James And The Giant Peach is a splendid film version (part real life, part animation) of a wonderful book by Roald Dahl. It tells the story of a boy who is orphaned and goes to live with his foul old aunts but ends up sailing away on a giant peach which grows in his garden. Sounds pretty naff, don't it? Review of Five Children And It / Two Brothers / James And The Giant Peach - Live Action / Animated (DVD)

Ahoy there mateys!

Advantages: Hilarious, great songs, wonderfully funny characters
Disadvantages: You have to be a Muppets fan to appreciate it

The Muppet Treasure Island is my personal favourite of all the Muppets films. Based on the Robert Louis Stevenson book, it's full of jokes, songs, and true muppet hilarity. There are a couple of human characters- young Jim Hawkins, Long John Silver, and Billy Bones (Billy Connolly) at the beginning, but the rest of the crew are Muppets. Gonzo and Rizzo are Jim's loyal (if silly!) sidekicks, and accompany him on adventure. There are plenty of songs ...
...sing-along section with the words, which kids will love. As a personal connoiseur of the Muppets and all things related to them, I highly recommend this film- it's got swashbuckling adventure, a treasure-trove of fun, and some serious moments too, where Jim shows his integrity of character and wins against Long John Silver, morally. Review of Muppet Treasure Island (DVD)

Good fun!

Advantages: Dialogue, cracking pace, excellent animation
Disadvantages: May not be suitable for children who are old enough to understand innuendo
