This was a wonderful move, and greatly appreciated by parents looking for a fun way to introduce learning basics to their little ones. Somehow, this video has become incredibly pricey and difficult to obtain though, and it seems to me that it past due for a new batch made available to consumers. ...watch this film all through the Christmas period instead of going out to the pub. Now that may really sound sad but it is just a master piece. This is one of the original great family films that manages to be an exceptional film without including any violence, drugs or sex. It is pure genius. I really dont feel that I am spoiling the plot and storyline ... ...complete and utter slave driver. The employees get paid next to nothing for their work and have to work their fingers to the bone in a cold and damp office. He wont even allow his employers to put coal in the fire. ...with early 90's BBC series The Borrowers. Adapted from the novels by Mary Norton (which I haven't read) The Borrowers was made into a 6 part series for children and was originally screened in 1992.
The Borrowers are basically little people (around 6 inches high) who like to borrow things from human 'beans' to use in their own homes. The Borrowers stars Ian Holm (most recently as Bilbo Baggins in The Lord of the Rings) as Pod Clock, the father, Penelope ... ...the mother and Rebecca Callard as Arrietty Clock, the daughter and follows them through the trials and tribulations of being the only ones of their kind left in the house, having relatives who'd been seen and had had to leave the house. Being seen themselves and actually finding out that some human beings were not too bad after all.
