...watching the tv series of Button Moon in the 1980's as a child in the mornings on ITV and singing along t the theme tune. "We're off to Button Moon will follow Mr Spoon Button Moon Button Moon."
I really liked this programe as a child but it dispeared off our screens without trace. This was proberley due to advancing technogoly and kids wanting better effects on the telly.

Once Mr Spoon arrives at Button Moon he always will take out his telescope for everyone to look through and find out whats happening on Button Moon. Advantages: Nostalgic, lightly entertaining, ahead of it's time! Disadvantages: "I got millions'o emenies. And you is 10 or 12 of 'em!"
How did Popeye the Sailor become strong to the finish? Where did he come from, and what was his family like? This charming 1980 film musically explores Popeye's origins, and the quirky town of Sweet Haven with it's criminally pinioned populace. From the moment Popeye discreetly rides an ebbing storm into this odd port, we know his life will never be the same again. Street toughs and the local crime-boss, The Commodore, rule the town, and the only ... ...Williams and Shelley Duval as Popeye and Olive Oyl. "Children! They cry at you when they're young, they yell at you when they're older, they borrows from you when they's middle-aged and they leave you alone to die. Without even paying you back!" ~Poopdeck Pappy This joint production between Paramount and Disney displays a lot of talents. Harry Nillson wrote all the original songs. There is plenty to enjoy for those who are fond of musicals. The lullaby ...

Advantages: Effective production design Disadvantages: Everything else
Mike Hodges' FLASH GORDON was released in 1980 and has since gone on to become something of a science fiction cult classic, but is it actually good? The evil Ming the Merciless has a plan: to destroy the earth by crashing it into the moon; and it's up to American football quarterback Flash Gordon to stop him, blasting all the way to space in lycra to hack down all of Ming's troops, and avoiding Ming's beautiful princess, with the aid of his beautiful ... ...was going to be as Flash Godon, who's lines had to be dubbed he was so bad, and how basic the action sequences would be. He must have known how relevant-and-yet-irrelevant the score would be by Queen, and how misleading the cartoon-like humour would be. He must have known how simplistic a plot and exaggerated the drama was from screenwriter Lorenzo Semple, contributor of the similarly campy 1960s Batman television series. My suspicion is he must ...

Advantages: More of that little love bug Disadvantages: can never find a problem with herbie
Herbie goes bananas,
I don't think the title is anything to this little bugs health, more to do with the films location.
This time Herbie's in Central America (Rio D, Janero) were he's set to enter the Grande Premio race.
But the fun starts as his owners are setting of on the voyage to Rio, This time the owners after deal with a smuggling syndicate, a midget pickpocket and little Herbie even has to go head to head with a mad Bull.
As usual with ... ...cheekiness brings smiles and laughter all the way through.
Allthough I am biased on my views as I love anything to do with Herbie, a lot of the humour may seem a bit outdated for the younger generation (teens) of today, and some of the acting a touch prim and proper compared to what there used to.
It will be enjoyed by most, but possibly more of a nostalgia trip for the older ones.
The film is 88 minutes long, which I find is about perfect timing ...
