Winnie the Pooh and Me Too!
Review of Winnie The Pooh - The Many Adventures Of Winnie The Pooh (Animated) by Shroud

Advantages: classic stories, well crafted songs, excellent remastering of picture and sound
Disadvantages: some disapprove as Shepard's drawings were not recreated for animation

...week. The many Adventures of Winnie the Pooh was one of the films that would appear every now and again, and I would sit down to watch it with great delight. I was such a huge fan, that my parents bought me Winnie The Pooh print dresses from the local Sears department stores, and I would have that identical dress again and again as I grew to the next size until at last, alas, I was too old to fit in the smaller children's sizes. This film was responsible ...
...three original shorts were: Winnie the Pooh and the Honey Tree (1966) Winnie the Pooh and the Blustery Day (1968) Winnie the Pooh and Tigger Too! (1974) Based upon the works of A.A. Milne, they were nonetheless Disneyfied versions of the stories and characters, so not completely faithful to the books. The film opens with a book being read by a narrator, and the pictures come alive as he reads. Winnie the Pooh and the Hunny Tree focuses on Pooh Bear ... Read review

Ticks all the boxes - Great fun action film
Review of Transformers DVD by veryluckyshorty

Advantages: Almost everything
Disadvantages: It is aimed at a younger audience

This is a great feel good, full of action, romance and humour. I highly recommend it!! It is one of those films that simply ticks all the boxes, almost to the point of too well. But I love this film. Plot The film begins by introducing us to the idea of the Cube, also known as the All Spark. This object has the power to create worlds and the life upon them. The problem however started when a fight breaks out between the Autobots and the Decepticons, ...
...a war between (yes you guessed it) good and evil. The Cube ends up being lost, but in search for it they are led to Earth. We are then shown two separate scenes, which appear worlds apart, but naturally are connected. On the one hand we have a group of US military who are returning to their base, which is then attacked by a Decepticon. In the other scene we have Sam Witwicky, played by Shia LaBeouf, a 11th grader whose Father is going to buy him ... Read review

good film
Review of Zathura:A Space Adventure (DVD) by atytyut2434

Advantages: looks good
Disadvantages: nothing like jumanji

I'll start by saying this film has nothing to do with the world of Jumanji. There are children in a house who play a board game which comes to life and takes the house into "The Twilight Zone" (Sorry to Rod Serling for sullying his product but I had no other comparison). The similarity ends right there. Take Tim Robbins, a divorced working dad bringing up 2 sons and a daughter. So our first question is why didn't mum get custody? Oh, and in case ...
...The kids wreck one of his drawings that he needs for a meeting (why his study isn't locked and why he has a drink that can spill anywhere near his work are never addressed. Dad pops out to work (can you say Home Alone? Quick call Social Services, he abandoned his kids!) and the kids start playing and are very quickly pulled into the world of Zathura where you know they are going to learn moral lessons about getting on with each other and learning ... golden boredness
Review of The Golden Compass DVD by atytyut2434

Advantages: looks nice
Disadvantages: too complicated

...story this complicated. We get the tiny explanation at the start which is practically useless. This film was made for those who have read the book, which I haven't. I found the film incredibly inaccessible to me. It's too long winded, far too self important and self indulgent. It requires a narrator and I found myself getting bored after less than 30 minutes (less than 1/3 of the way through). The film didn't hold my attention very well (it'd struggle ...
...didn't care about any of the characters or the plot at all, the film was that interesting (ie:- not at all). I won't try to explain the plot (as I didn't really understand much of it) other than to say it seems to follow the voyage of a girl and people trying to discover a path from their realm into alternate realities & others trying to stop them doing that. None of the characters were compelling enough to pique my interest, likewise the animal ... Read review

done before
Review of Cars DVD by atytyut2434

Advantages: looks pretty
Disadvantages: unoriginal idea

...Bugs Life all done with cars and all played with the original voice talent somehow persuaded to parody themselves. The THX goof at the start of the DVD is excellent and really funny too. The kids will like this as it looks really good but the adults might find a wee bit boring to be honest. ... Read review
