Welcome to the fun factory!
Advantages: great family film Disadvantages: none
...been watching the children's classic Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory with my two daughters and we have all really enjoyed it. I had seen it years ago but had forgotten just waht a good film it is, and watching it as an adult has been just enjoyable. The film was made in 1971 and is based on the wonderful book by Roald Dahl. It tells the story of Charlie Buckett, a small boy who lives in almost penniless conditions in a rundown cottage with ... ...world becomes very excited when Willy Wonka, who runs a big chocolate factory announces that he has placed five golden tickets in chocolate bars. The recipients of these tickets will win all the chocolate that can eat for life and also a visit to the chocolate factory. This send the whole world into an excited frenzy with many people buying chocolate bars by the hundreds! Charlie would love to win a golden ticket but sadly there is no money for buying ...

Black Beauty
Advantages: Fantastic storyline, soundtrack, anal and human actors Disadvantages: Saw a crew member on an old version of the film that has since been corrected
...as Sean Bean, starring as Black Beauty's breeder and first owner.
The footage and older camera filming adds perfectly to the timed setting of the late 1800's. I have heard people complain in the past that Black Beauty has an english voice. My view is, if the film was created in america, he'd have an american voice. No difference really!
The bond between Joe, the clumsy, slightly thick stable boy, and Beauty, is a wonderful creation and reflection ... ...and humane living conditions, and how very different it is today. Black Beauty was wrritten in plight of the treatments horses, espeically working horses. Although this is the 5th version of the story, and as films are never exact to the film, it is the best ive seen. ...

Bedknobs and Broomsticks
Advantages: Characters, Plot, Special Effects, etc Disadvantages: None really
Bedknobs and broomsticks is for me, a classic Disney film, although its not one of the most popular with the public, it definitely is for me! I don't actually own the DVD, but I've seen it so many times on the TV, I know it really well by now and definitely well enough to do a review on it. The plot is original, unlike many Disney films taking their plots from old fairytales (Cinderella, etc.) it is also unique because it is a mixture of animation ... ...under the sea or when they meet some cartoon animals. This was very good for the time as it was released over thirty five years ago, in 1971. You can tell the film is British as it starts off with some history, and you get a real feeling of the war and what was happening at the war. In a little village somewhere in Dorset, there is a witch called Eglantine Price (played by Angela Lansbury) who somehow believes that her learning to be a witch will ...

Good fun!
Advantages: Dialogue, cracking pace, excellent animation Disadvantages: May not be suitable for children who are old enough to understand innuendo
...for adults as well and Ice Age 3 certainly delivered on that front. I've seen Ice Age2 on TV but not the first film and never in the cinema. On top of that this was a 3D show. The story essentially follows Manny, the mammoth, his heavily pregnant wife, Ellie and Diego, the sabre toothed tiger as they venture under the ice to a land where dinosaurs are not extinct. They do this to try and rescue Sid, who feeling unloved due to the impending arrival ... ...subsequently been carried off with his 'children' by their real mother. In dinosaur world they meet Buck, the weasel with the Sylvester Stallone eyepatch and knife, the British accent (Simon Pegg voices him) and the literary connections to Captain Ahab of Moby Dick (both have been left injured by 'the great white beast', both are unnaturally obsessed and slightly unhinged by it). As a sideline, Scratt is still seeking his acorn but this time there ...

"I thought you guys were extinct?"
Advantages: amazing picture quality, good fun for all the family! Disadvantages: Cant think of any.
I bought my wife Ice Age 3 for Christmas. She asked for it. Can't say its my type of film, but being a loving husband I sat down and watched it with her anyway. The first thing that struck me, being a blu ray, is the amazing quality. Animated films and comic-esque outings (like the Simpsons) always take full advantage of the High Definition nature of blu ray and make a movie a pleasure for the eye to behold. Ice Age 3 is quite possibly the best example ... ...were apparently living below the ice and meeting a swash buckling weasel who helps save the day. All the while, we get to watch the fun adventures of the little chap chasing his acorn, that have been present in the past films. This time, there's a love interest!! Its quite a good watch and plenty of fun for all the family. The usual deleted scenes and such are present, I can't say I watched them though, sorry, but its not my cup-of-tea, as I said. ...
