The Muppet Show. The Opening number

Advantages: interesting to see how the show developed, the pilot episode
Disadvantages: not the best series for a casual fan to buy, Muppet morsels can be annotying, no listing of episodes

...about my favourite TV show The Muppets again. Disney (unfortunately) have bought out my beloved fuzzy puppets and to make their money's worth they have started to release box sets of the Muppet seasons. My old video box set ;s quality was starting to deteriorate due to overuse so I thought I would treat myself to Season One of the Muppet Show on DVFD when I saw it in the Amazon sale or a fantastic £17.99. The box set contains four DVDs and a whopping ...
...the Muppet Show ran for 24 episodes and was first shown in 1976 and 1977. The Muppet Show was a take on the variety shows that used to be on TV such as Sunday Night at the Palladium.. It was made up of different songs and sketches performed by acts such as the Electric Mayhem Band, Miss Piggy and Fozzie Bear. These were held together by the capable flippers of Kermit the Frog. I am not usually one for going into detail about the packaging but there ...

Powerangers SPD Vol1-5 (Box Set ) DVD

Advantages: Better Value
Disadvantages: None

This is much better than previous ones. It offers a better value and my 4 year old enjoys it. It has very moderate action and is suitable for kids. My child enjoys it and would recommend this as a good buy. Different episodes totaly five. The special effects are outstanding and even a 36 year old like me was watching it with my son and was actually rivetted to the screen. I think at about £19.99 it is a good value 5 box set DVD, has excellent ...
...or smudge the discs. The characters are really funny and interesting and so is the plot of the story. What I do like about it is that there is hardly any swearing which is quite important considering it does have moderate violence. But that is expected from any in this genre and it is popular with kids! The Special effects are really excellent and would say it is worth a look. ...

A trip back to another world

Advantages: Childhood memories, classic films
Disadvantages: Sequel not as good as the first

... Escape to Witch Mountain 'Escape to Witch Mountain' was made in 1975 (directed by John Hough) and is based upon a book (with the same name, written in 1968) by Alexander Key. Blond haired Tony (Ike Eisenmann) and Tia Malone (Kim Richards) are orphans, and tragically their foster parents have just died too (we don't really find out anything about that - think they were old). They end up at some sort of children's home, and go to a school where ...
...coming back. However, the escape to Witch Mountain is not easy with Bolt and Deranian hot on the children's heels. More of my thoughts… To say more would be to give away too much of the plot (and I fear some might criticise me already - but it was all relevant, I couldn't miss anything out!). This is however a typical Disney film from that era. There's drama and a bit of a car chase, there's naff special effects, and there's a happy ending ...

Good fun!

Advantages: Dialogue, cracking pace, excellent animation
Disadvantages: May not be suitable for children who are old enough to understand innuendo

...for adults as well and Ice Age 3 certainly delivered on that front. I've seen Ice Age2 on TV but not the first film and never in the cinema. On top of that this was a 3D show. The story essentially follows Manny, the mammoth, his heavily pregnant wife, Ellie and Diego, the sabre toothed tiger as they venture under the ice to a land where dinosaurs are not extinct. They do this to try and rescue Sid, who feeling unloved due to the impending arrival ...
...subsequently been carried off with his 'children' by their real mother. In dinosaur world they meet Buck, the weasel with the Sylvester Stallone eyepatch and knife, the British accent (Simon Pegg voices him) and the literary connections to Captain Ahab of Moby Dick (both have been left injured by 'the great white beast', both are unnaturally obsessed and slightly unhinged by it). As a sideline, Scratt is still seeking his acorn but this time there ...

"I thought you guys were extinct?"

Advantages: amazing picture quality, good fun for all the family!
Disadvantages: Cant think of any.

I bought my wife Ice Age 3 for Christmas. She asked for it. Can't say its my type of film, but being a loving husband I sat down and watched it with her anyway. The first thing that struck me, being a blu ray, is the amazing quality. Animated films and comic-esque outings (like the Simpsons) always take full advantage of the High Definition nature of blu ray and make a movie a pleasure for the eye to behold. Ice Age 3 is quite possibly the best example ...
...were apparently living below the ice and meeting a swash buckling weasel who helps save the day. All the while, we get to watch the fun adventures of the little chap chasing his acorn, that have been present in the past films. This time, there's a love interest!! Its quite a good watch and plenty of fun for all the family. The usual deleted scenes and such are present, I can't say I watched them though, sorry, but its not my cup-of-tea, as I said. ...
