DVD Description
FALSTAFF, Verdi's final opera, is presented here in a live performance from the Aix-en-Provence festival in the summer of 2001 (the centenary of Verdi's death). The Orchestre de Paris, conducted by Enrique Mazzola, supports a cast including Willard White as Falstaff.
Advantages: An amazing film. Disadvantages: None in my opinion - subtitles might put some off though (which is a shame)
...in the 2001 film 'Le Placard'.
The music is great too, it's all written by Jean-Claude Petit and the theme tune is the 'La Force du Destin' by GiuseppeVerdi - you might recognise it from the Stella Artois adverts. The theme plays for the first five or so minutes whilst you see Ugolin returning from the army to his uncle's house. This is really an introduction to the beautiful surroundings which play such a key role in the film.
The film is in French and contains English subtitles. I know that this instantly puts some people off but I urge you to watch this film regardless. The French that is spoken has a beautiful Provence accent (except for Jean and his family) which made it very interesting to listen to.
The film lasts for 116 minutes and there are no real special features to speak of - only the original theatrical trailer.

Advantages: Wide view of Picture as intended for cinemas Disadvantages: Unsuitable view for Portable DVD's
...The third and final part (as of yet) of the Die Hard series and Bruce Willis is back this time alongside Samuel L Jackson.
This Widescreen version is suitable for anyone who's television set as the ability to show widescreen pictures. With this you can see more of the film has it was intended to be seen at the cinema. Sometimes films are cut to fit onto standard screen sizes. The film is probably the best of the three films and Jackson gives Willis a run for his money in the action scenes.
The Villian played by Jeremy Irons although not as good has Alan Rickman in the first Die Hard film does an excellent potrayal of a German villian. If you are a fan of the series but have only watched them on television (with adverts betwween) then go and purchase this film and see how it was intended to be seen....

Advantages: Fabulous acting, sets, costumes; Shakespeare at its finest Disadvantages: -
...For a first effort at feature-film direction, now-veteran director/writer/actor Kenneth Branagh provided an astonishing introduction to his many talents in filmmaking with his 1989 production, 'Henry V'. There is a gritty realism brought to the screen in this production that combines in dynamic and interesting ways with the Shakespearean dialogue and situations. The battle scenes are some of the best in cinema for depicting the kind of royal and knightly battles. A special commendation goes to cinematographer Kenneth MacMillan, art directors Martin Childs, Norman Dorme, John King, and costume designer Phyllis Dalton for combining elements of stage and screen together to complement the story perfectly without overpowering it. Indeed, the picture won the Oscar for Best Costumes; Branagh was nominated for Best Leading Actor and Best...
