Advantages: More light hearted than the first Disadvantages: The plot is too similar to the first
...the first film. Most of this can be put down to the fact that although it is still a thriller it has a much lighter feel which makes it more appealing to myself and anyone who finds serious thrillers hard going. On top of this you have the absolutely brilliant Bryan Brown who is a personal favourite of mine along with a much improved character for Brian Dennehy. Of course this film will appeal to anyone who saw the first film FX - Murder by Illusion, but will also appeal to anyone who likes thrillers which are not overly dark or over taxing on the brain.

Advantages: Bryan Brown, interesting special effects Disadvantages: Very dated
...- Murder by Illusion was packed full of interesting and innovative techniques but sadly these are now run of the mill and seem somewhat inadequate compared to today's movies. Saying that, his ability to use the world of the special effects to tell the story but still leave some mysticism about it is truly ingenious. Especially as it allows for the movie to twist and turn at a reasonable pace and every now and then throwing you in a completely different direction. The soundtrack like the film, is packed full of the synth sounds that were the main stay of movies in the late 80s and at times is highly distracting. But in general it fits nicely against each of the scenes.
After 20 years FX - Murder by Illusion has sadly become very dated and compared to modern films it looks like a straight to DVD release. But getting past the dated soundtrack...

Advantages: Brilliant performance plus a wide variety of songs. Disadvantages: Have to buy Use Your Illusion I to get the full concert experience.
...I bought this alongside the Use Your Illusion I DVD because I am a big Guns n' Roses fan and I'd say that this is a must for any other fans out there. The DVD shows the second part of a gig they did in Japan, as part of their Use Your Illusion tour in 1992/93. (I would recommend buying this DVD alongside the Use Your Illusion I DVD so that you get the full experience of the concert).
The sound quality of the DVD is very good and Axl Rose is on top form with the vocals, if a little too brash with changing his clothes with every song! Slash amazes with his heartfelt, finger tapping solos; every band member really gets into the show.
They play a lot of songs from their Use Your Illusion double albums as well as playing classics from their Appetite for Destruction album, such as Sweet Child O' Mine, Paradise City and Welcome...
