Advantages: Good graphics for the time, good music. Disadvantages: No story, bad gameplay, very difficult and seems biased towards the AI.
Wipeout Fusion is an OK racing game, but it requires alot of patience otherwise you'll end up throwing your PS2 out of the window.
Gameplay - **
Horrible gameplay. While racing you are guaranteed to have a million weapons used on you, have every racer barge into you as they fly past much faster than you, and also to have other racers stop directly in front of you when you use a weapon on them so that they become unavoidable, even if you try to swerve out of the way. And if you play the game without the weapons it's boring.
Tracks are difficult, and you can never seem to do the same stuff that the computer can, or at the same speed. For instance, when going around a corner the computer will ALWAYS be faster than you. This is a film which seems to have been over looked as a successful thriller, which is a shame as it throws some very good ethical questions into the ring. It also shows Hugh Grant in a new light as an actor who can play gritty modern characters. I would recommend this to anyone who likes a good thriller which will keep you hooked.
The DVD is currently £15.99 on Amazon which is extortionate for a DVD with no bonus features but if you look ...
*A review of Extreme G 2 (or XG2) for the N64 which primarily focuses on the single-player experience.*
The 'Extreme Contest' (racing in a field of eight) was a let-down, as in Extreme G. The player is required to finish strongly to qualify for the next race - so strongly that the points will have them top the table. It is 'extreme' in that sense, but it's not really a contest when, as leader, there is the risk of being disqualified.
But where there has been change has not been for the better. The 'Shoot Em Up' mode - destroying drone targets for a race duration - has now become 'Arcade' mode, but they may as well have called it 'Sh*t Em Up' as the lack of a limit of laps means it's point system seems pointless and is purely for practice (of which it's no substitute for the real thing).
