First fun with French DVD
Review of First Fun With French DVD by  denella

Advantages: A great way to introduce young children to a foreign language
Disadvantages: There is no written language at all on screen

...This is an animated DVD that is aimed at giving very young children an introduction to the French language. It is an enjoyable way of teaching, and parents can sit and relax with their children whilst watching. They can learn about families, daily routine, as well as a few extra topics that are brought in such as animals. Children are likely to find it fun and ask to watch again and again, which will allow them to absorb French words and phrases naturally, without even trying. Three is said to be the optimum age for language learning, and this DVD would give children a wonderful start towards more formal language study at a later stage in their education. I have used it successfully in a nursery setting, and would recommend it for home use as well.... Read review

Extreme Fighting
Review of Extreme Fighting Vol. 1 To 4 DVD by  nakedchoke

Advantages: cheap, plenty of action, it's MMA
Disadvantages: poor sound and picture, no extras, quality of fights

...the guard. Small punches and heel strikes will be used to distract the fighter on top to allow the fighter on the bottom to work a submission or reverse the position to end up in the mount. There are also different types of guard but I wont go into all of them, as I want to focus on the DVD, plus explaining everything I know about this would fill a whole book. ***Side mount and clinch*** Now you know what the guard and mount are I will explain the side mount and half guard. Quite often the fighter in the top position will work to pass the guard and get to the side to work for the more dominant mount position. This will look like a similar shape to the letter T. Clinching will be familiar to fans of the sport of boxing or kickboxing amongst other styles. Basically this can be described as hugging an opponent whilst standing... Read review

Good fun, but a bit repetitive and challenging
Review of James May's Motormania Car Quiz DVD by  peugeotbabe

Advantages: Good fun, simple to use
Disadvantages: Some questions a bit too hard, can get repetitive

...My dearly beloved bought me this for my birthday as I'm a bit of a petrolhead and love the Top Gear trio. So out came the remote control as my family all gathered on the sofa and we slipped into first gear for the first round. Basically you choose a type of vehicle, for example sports cars, and you start off as a fab and groovy one. But in each round, the more questions you get wrong the lower your car's value becomes, until you end up traded down to something like a Reliant or a pushbike! The theory behind the DVD games themselves is easy - just use the navigation buttons on the remote to go forward, back, select answers and categories etc., so that wasn't too much of a challenge for us. But some of the questions were, shall we say, a little tricky. I must say that whilst you get a lot of variety in the topics, for example... Read review
