Review: "...Sensational....It is an exploitation picture but one with class: it has style...and thankfully, a dry, saving sense of humor..." (Los Angeles Times, p.C6, 24/04/1987)
"...An amusing concoction that is frequently offbeat....[With] taut direction and editing..." (Variety, 29/04/1987)
Advantages: Beautifully shot film Disadvantages: Making Mr Darcy an American
...I had to analyse this film and compared it to the book for the speech and ideolect for one of my assignments.

(a film even Oliver Stone would be proud of!)
The acting, with the exception of Brando, is truly breathtaking, especially from Sheen as a man high on booze & drugs and who can flip his normally cool manner with acts of sudden violence & aggression (the machine gun attack on the boat being the most abrasive...

...snack - this Pride & Prejudice might satisfy you for a short while, however if you are looking for an elegant five course meal, only the original BBC series will satisfy your hunger and delight your taste-buds!
My advice is to purchase the original BBC series on DVD. You will be blessed with five hours of beautiful Austen craftsmanship....
