Extras 1+2 Review ofExtras - Series 1 And 2 (Box Set)by

Advantages: Very Funny Disadvantages: Should have more extras.
...The Office.
Now the Extras story is of Andy Milman (Ricky Gervais) ,an extra who wants to make it a bit further in his career and have a staring role rather then just be in the background. He spends much of his time trying to get seen by various famous faces so they can put in a good word about him and he can further his career. He befriends the very sweet Maggie (the equally lovely Ashley Jenson) who is also an extra, though she tends to have a ... ...Bowie.
On the DVD extras front, it would of course be deeply ironic if a show with the title it has, did not have many extras but thankfully its not the case. I mean theirs not as many as big blockbusters often have but a decent selection.
Firstly, over at disc 1 you have a documentary entitled 'The Difficult Second Album' which is an informative and amusing look of behind the scenes of the making of The Extras.
Then we have 'Taping Nigel' which ...

Extra funny Review ofExtras - Series 1 And 2 (Box Set)by
chloeisa
Advantages: Brilliant. Disadvantages: Can seem unbelievable that Andy would put up with his useless agent and friend.
This brilliantly funny comedy tells of a failing 'actor', Andy Millman (Ricky Gervais) attempting to work his way up from a lowly extra to a fully-fledged actor. Unfortunatly, his agent, Darren Lamb (Steven Lamb) is grossly incapable and spends much of his time trying to get Andy's jobs given to 'Barry off Eastenders' (Shaun Williamson). Andy is always accompanied by his friend, Maggie (Ashley Jensen) who is infuriatingly stupid. Each episode features ... ...Chris Martin turning up for a 'Save Africa' campaign and asking for the slideshow to contain an advertisement for the new Coldplay: Greatest Hits album instead of dying children. Another features Orlando Bloom incessantly boasting of his popularity with women, his good looks and supposedly sensational kissing technique.
The viewer feels an attraction to Andy and can't help but sympathise whole-heartedly when things go wrong for him yet again. Written ...

...Fantastic value for money....the whole series on just 6 discs! Better than series1 & 2 of One Tree Hill, as the packaging is smaller, because there are 2 DVD discs in each case (Rather than 6 separate cases like series1 & 2 ). This makes it easier to store on shelving.
When you look on the extra features of this DVD boxset it says that there is a "Gag Reel", but to be honest it did not make me laugh! I thought with 3 series of One Tree Hill filmed, and no "Gag Reels" on the other boxsets that there would be more bloopers, however, it only showed a few. And one was in a foreign language!
One Tree Hill follows the lives of brothers, Lucas and Nathan Scott, and their friends and family. Nathan and Lucas share the same father, Dan Scott, however they have different mothers. Although the two of them are brothers, they grew up...

I loved this DVD so much i couldnt stop saying the quotes from it, the characters are very well structured and Seth the creator is from Kent so you know its got a little british humor in there somewhere. When you buy it, tell your friends to buy it, you will love it so much you will want more.
The DVD content isnt much, its just the episodes and thats all. When you buy the box-set with series1, 2 and 3 in you will get extra features on an extra DVD. The characters can be very offencive in some places. I wouldnt...

Advantages: Easy to watch, light, British comedy. Disadvantages: Only 2 series!!
....
Basically, Dinnerladies is just a very light comedy requiring not a lot of brain power to enjoy. Easy to follow but, I imagine, restricted in it's appeal. If you like Victoria Wood and enjoyed her in Acorn Antiques, you will enjoy this.
I personally adored this series and was delighted to find this boxset in a local DVD store for only £9.99!! I've watched it from start to finish overnight and the old jokes I giggled at 6 years ago continue to make me giggle. I continue to be exasperated watching Tony and Bren just miss getting it together on numerous occasions. I still howl at the comic genius of Julie Walters as Petula and am genuinely moved at the more serious parts of the show (Stans father dying, Brens battle with her conscience where her mother is concerned.)
This DVD boxset contains 2 DVDs (series1 and series2). Neither has any...

DVD Description
Contains series one and two of the comedy show EXTRAS. In series one, Andy Millman (Ricky Gervais) is an actor but his agent cannot get him an acting job. Instead he is just an extra in films, a different film a different location, ever hopeful that one day he will actually get some lines. Ricky Gervais’ follow up series to the enormously successful THE OFFICE sees Gervais repeating the acute observations on real life used in THE OFFICE, this time in the world of films. Guest stars on EXTRAS include both Hollywood actors (Ben Stiller, Kate Winslett, Samuel.L Jackson, Patrick Stewart) and actors familiar to British television viewers (Ross Kemp and Les Dennis). All the actors are more than happy to send themselves up, whether it be Patrick Stewart and his sex obsession or Kate Winslett only deciding to do a Holocaust film because she thinks she’ll win an Oscar for it. Series two of EXTRAS finds extra Andy Millman commissioned by the BBC to create and star in the sitcom ‘When The Whistle Blows’. However, Andy’s initial happiness with his achievement is soon quelled when he finds he has to make a lowest common denominator show in order to appeal to the broadest possible audience. Andy’s sitcom has been transformed from a show that was in many ways like Gervais’ groundbreaking previous show THE OFFICE into a catchphrase-driven show that’s filmed in front of a studio audience. Additionally, he has been told that he has to wear large glasses and a curly perm wig. The second series of EXTRAS sees Millman attempting to adjust to fame and life in the public eye and the compromises that come with. Guest stars include Robert De Niro, Orlando Bloom, David Bowie, Coldplay’s Chris Martin, Jonathan Ross, Sir Ian McKellen, and Daniel Radcliffe.
