...21st century Earth. NATO and all the military forces in the world did not manage to rid the Earth of this scourge, even making things worse by using the atomic bomb. Modern technology failed the humans, and now, in 2010 or 2015, Quinn and his small colony of survivors, possibly the only humans on Earth, live in a medieval castle.
The film starts with Quinn, as a child, when he unwillingly awakes one of the dragons which had been hibernating for hundreds of years in underground London, thus triggering the Reign of Fire that gives the movie its somewhat dramatic title. Then, the time setting changes, as the film fast forwards, about 15 years later, in a different spatial setting as well : Northumberland. ...I don't mind admitting that I love this country of ours, and one of the things I love most is the spectacular coastline that we are blessed with. It is no surprise then that when the Beeb produced the first series of Coast I was an ardent viewer.
Of course when the trailers for the second series started showing I did wonder how they could follow up the first one, maybe do it all the other way round? Walk backwards? As it turned out I need not have worried, save for the fact that through work and other commitments I missed all but two programmes. So I was mighty pleased when a DVD of the second series appeared on Christmas morning.

Advantages: Excellent story with a strong performance from Douglas Disadvantages: Very few - maybe not as much action as you might expect
