I've seen the orginal and it was something that I never seen before, it's concept was unique and its creepy athmosphere was fantastic! I just had to see its sequels, even though I heard so much unjustified bad critic about them!
After reading on IMDB (Internet Movie Data Base, which is the internet's largest movie review place)that 2600 voters average vote for this movie was only 3.3, I had very low exceptations on this movie. First I want to point out that this is nothing like the first movie. I've got give credit to the writers for writing something completely diffrent, even though the first movie was regarded as the best horror movie of its time.
Father Lemount is sent to straight out the death of Father Merrin and to find out why Regan was possessed by the demon Pazuzu.Regan is put in hypnosis, but this brings the demon back into her. Lamount travels to Africa to meet a guy that once was possessed by Pazuzu but from whom Merrin driven it out. He tells him how to defeat this demon. Regan and Lemount drives back to Regan's old house in Washington do defeat it.
While the first movie built all of it's tension around Regan's room, this movie has a lot of happenings around diffrent landscapes. There is no gore in this movie and it does in fact feel more like you would be watching an Indiana Jones adventure movie but with less action scenes.
During the movie it was hard to predict how the ending of this movie would be like, but i can say it was very nice. The film score of this movie is an instant classic and one definately in my Top10 of movie scores I've heard.! The music is so dramatic and sad.
If you liked the first one and are curious how the next one would be, go ahead and rent this movie. Don't however expect a creepy horror movie like the first or you will be very dissapointed. Expect a decent adventure film with ideas taken from the first one and you can enjoy yourself in 113 minutes.
