Britain by one of Israel's best-known cartoonists. A young man Koby Franco receives an urgent phone call from a female soldier. Learning that his estranged father may have been a victim of a suicide bombing in Hadera Koby reluctantly joins the soldier in searching for clues. His death would certainly explain his empty apartment and disconnected phone line. As Koby tries to unravel the mystery of his father's death he finds himself not only piecing together the last few months of his father's life but his entire identity. With thin precise lines and luscious watercolours Modan creates a portrait of modern Israel a place where sudden death mingles with the slow dissolution of family ties.

Since me and my fiancé moved into our first house we have been trying to have people over whenever we can and one of the new traditions that I totally approve of is movie night. Basically everybody comes around to our house and we all choose a film and stick it on. Last night we girls actually let the lads choose which was a big mistake as they are all fans of Steven Seagal and my fiancé happens to have a lot of his films. The film they chose was Exit Wounds and to be honest it was actually quite a lot better than I thought it would be.
-----
The Film:
The film starts with what seems like a plot to assassinate the Vice President and of course at the last minute Seagal's character Boyd jumps in and saves the day by blowing up loads of cars and then killing a load of guys. One thing he shouldn't have done though is actually threw the VP over a bridge and into water to get him out of danger especially when the VP cannot even swim.
This turns out for the worse as Boyd is fired from being a full out cop and he is thrown into a precinct for bad cops basically. From here he has problems with the other guys and his new female boss, gets involved in what appears to be a robbery and then gets himself into more trouble when he ruins another case.
Verdict on the Story:
My description is brief and that is literally because I cannot give you much more because there is nothing more to give. This is a Seagal film and as a result the story is not great but watchable. From the beginning it does grab your attention with some over the top but entertaining action sequences. Then you do get a bit of what the plot is going to be about but then for about half of the film you just get random scenes that are not needed in the movie at all.
The story is funny though and this is what keeps your attention. Seagal films are sometimes quite serious and purely about the action but this one has some of the cheesiest lines and a mad character in the form of T.K who steals the film. This is why I don't mind this film as it is entertaining and although I don't think the action sequences are good, I do think they are fun to watch and take the mick out of.
When you have finished watching the movie I was pleasantly surprised that 1) I had actually sat through a whole Seagal film without falling asleep and 2) That I actually did enjoy it a little bit. It is not a satisfying film by any means but I think all of the boys enjoyed it and it kept them quiet for an hour and a half which is always a blessing.

Cast and Characters:
Steven Seagal - Boyd DMX - Walker Anthony Anderson - T.K Tom Arnold - Henry Wayne Jill Hennessey - Mulcahy Isaiah Washington - Clark
Verdict on the Cast and Characters:
The cast includes Seagal in the lead role and although I don't like him I have to admit he is entertaining. He is one of those people that you love to hate but although he can't actually act you feel compelled to keep watching him on screen. In this film he is not that bad and he is just typical Seagal doing what he does best. Anderson is by far the best member though as he is just so comical. I was quite impressed with DMX as he can act and plays a convincing character.
The thing I found amazing was as you are watching this film you do occasionally see cast members that you recognise such as Eva Mendes who pops up a few times.
Character-wise they are rubbish apart from T.K who is entertaining throughout. The problem with Seagal films is that they focus purely on the action and forget about simple things like making fun and interesting characters. If you just like to watch people beat each other though then this is the film for you.
The making of Exit Wounds feature is actually exactly what you would expect from this type of film so expect to see how they do certain stunts and a lot of action from Seagal. Quite enjoyable to watch though which was ok. It wouldn't be a DMX film if it didn't star a music video from him so you have quite a good, R n B/Rap version of 'no sunshine'. The final feature is a day with Anthony Anderson which is hilarious and because he was the best character in the film because he was funny, I really enjoyed this one. It just shows him getting up to mischief which is always fun to watch.
-----
Verdict:
I found this film a lot funnier with everybody because we were all talking throughout it and what we said was better than the film. Our running joke was that Seagal would actually in real life just immediately locate the bad guy and annihilate whereas he must be acting so that he can draw everything out. This is one of Seagal's better films so even if you are like me and loathe the guy I think you may find it good.
Exit Wounds is just an action film with an ok plot although it hardly goes anywhere throughout the films, characters who are laughable but quite enjoyable to watch, funny action sequences and some very cheesy lines. The best for us was when Seagal comes across a lot of people trying to pinch his car and he says 'what am I, a s**t magnet'. So hilarious!
My major problem with this film apart from with the extremely cheesy and silly lines, all of the action is just a bit over the top. It is seriously like the makers sat there thinking how can I make this look so much more impressive and then decided that every time a car would hit another they would both blow up and every punch Seagal throws would kill a man. Ok I am exaggerating a little bit but you get the idea of what I mean.
In conclusion I am going to give this film three stars which trust me is good for me to do so considering how much I hate Seagal. The film is entertaining enough and the character of T.K is a scene stealer which I found great. It does lose stars though because it is a Seagal film so the plot is extremely thin and the action sequences are so unbelievable that it becomes laughable throughout.
Advantages: Good mindless fun, not a film that should be taken seriously Disadvantages: It's another Seagal cop action film, if thats not your thing it certianly is a major disadvantage
...cast Seagal with DMX was Exit Wounds released around the middle of 2001. While it was still a straight to video release it was a major change to his usual films. It really caught my eye but with straight to video releases I generally forget they are there until I see them on the shelf in Tesco's. So I decided recently it was time to catch up with a load of his films I've missed, starting with this one.
Seagal stars a Orin Boyd, a Police Officer ... ...Having saved the Vice President from an ambush in an unconventional manor, disobeying every order given, Boyd is reassigned to one of the City's worst precincts. He quickly stumbles upon some dodgy dealings between some of the other Police officers and a local rich kid. The biggest problem facing Boyd is exactly who he can trust to try and sort it out.
While Seagal has very much become typecast in these police Action type of movies it is a role ...

Advantages: some interesting twists and fight scenes, some decent acting at times Disadvantages: stale plot, some rather overdone and pointless violence, I can act better than Seagal
...on offer at your cinema, Exit Wounds appears to be the most worthy choice. I guess that all depends on how old you are but my mate and I didn't want to see kiddie flicks so that was ruled out, nor romantic tosh that's been recycled fifty times, nor did we want to see stuff that was totally panned by everyone. So, we ventured along to see a nice no-brainer action flick, and everyone was happy. The vague sense of unease I felt building up before I ... ...this movie to be named Exit Wounds, a much more apt name would be Everyone Dies, for rather obvious reasons. This movie is not subtle. Rather, it takes a heavy blunt object and beats you around the head until it finishes. There are some rather gruesome scenes involving sharp objects that made me cringe so if you are a bit squeamish you might not want to be going along to watch this one. Exit Wounds is a rather cliched actioner, because we have all ...

Advantages: Imaginative action, not as dumb as I expected, good soundtrack Disadvantages: Average.
Ten word review: Segal and DMX fight corruption and drugs in “gritty” thriller.
Steven Segal is actually quite a jolly man. The reason for his constant grimace is his constant fear that his usual happy go lucky smile will make him seem less of a hard man. So every day when he turns up for his acting job, he sucks twelve lemons and watches John Carpenter’s Vampires. Feeling suitably sullen (and a little angry), he goes on to a productive ... ...Now, the last time Joel Silver put his name to anything other than The Matrix, it was the superbly average Romeo Must Die. Mercifully, this effort has far less wire work, is believable, and… dare I say it… A Good Steven Segal Movie.
In the mood for a slice of “pulse-pounding action” as the sleeve puts it (I’ve heard that phrase a million times, and not one lentil has been stood on yet…), I sat down with the lights ...

...and persuade you otherwise – Exit Wounds is no Oscar winner. This film is designed to look and sound good, and the filmmakers don’t want the audience to focus too much attention on the plot. It won’t win any fans over to the genre, but for a dumb weekend movie, I thought this was pretty good.

Advantages: There will be no pop quiz about this movie. High IQ not required. Disadvantages: It's a dumb action film with Seagal.
...If you're interested in Exit Wounds at all, it's because it's an action movie and has a somewhat interesting cast. You're expectations for it are probably pretty low but your curious if Seagal is still a reasonably entertaining bad-ass and if DMX can act. The answer to both questions is a qualified yes. Exit Wounds is low-brow entertainment. It's not a film you study or savor for its intricacies or sub-texts. You watch a film like this very much ... ...a t.v. program does.
Exit Wounds is what non-critical genre fans expect it to be. Perhaps a tiny bit better. Seagal does not really act, but he does have an interesting charisma. At his best he's a poor-man's Clint Eastwood, who's spare Akido influenced martial arts moves are bone break-ingly no nonsense, macho stuff. He frowns a lot, he grimaces once in a while, he's sometimes photographed at unflattering angles, has vampire like teeth, and he ...

Advantages: Two movies for the price of one Disadvantages: They are both Steven Seagal movies
...Steven Seagal has, in my mind, always been a poor man's Clint Eastwood, and these two movies prove it. In ExitWounds, he plays a cop who is demoted to a tough precinct, only to find the place riddled with corruption, and him sticking his nose in where it doesn't belong. DMX plays a lead suspect who may or may not be involved. The action scenes are loud and frantic and come every five minutes, although the rushing sounds of each kick make it laughable. Out For Justice, however, is a no-nonsense, ultra-violent revenge thriller with Seagal playing an Italian cop with links to the mob out to find the man who killed his friend and fellow cop. Unlike ExitWounds, which does have some comic relief, Out For Justice does, and is just violent scene after violent scene. Character development and subplots don't exist. Maybe the makers of the Seagal...

DVD Description
Detroit cop Orin Byrd (Steven Seagal) plays by his own rules. He knows what's right and what's wrong, and like Clint Eastwood's Harry Callahan, he doesn't mind leaving a little destruction in his wake as long as he gets the job done. But after saving the vice president from a militia group in a high-tech bridge battle that features the requisite car explosions and plenty of fancy weaponry, he gets busted down to a low-rent neighborhood where he is soon playing crossing guard. But he has a nose for trouble, so when he begins to suspect that some of the cops in his department are getting down and dirty with drug kingpin Latrell Walker (DMX), he is ready to take action--even if he has to go it alone, against the orders of his commander (Jill Hennessy). Cinematographer-turned-director Andrzej Bartkowiak (ROMEO MUST DIE) shows off his keen eye in EXIT WOUNDS as Seagal and DMX battle it out on the Detroit streets. The pounding hip-hop soundtrack (featuring a number of contributions from DMX and Drag-On, who also appears in the film) and fabulous stunts, keep the excitement moving at a fast pace as the corruption--and the body count--continues to mount. But Anthony Anderson, playing Walker's right-hand man, T.K., nearly walks away with the film, supplying comic relief even through much of the closing credits.
