Exit To Eden DVD

Advantages: Two movies for the price of one
Disadvantages: They are both Steven Seagal movies

...Steven Seagal has, in my mind, always been a poor man's Clint Eastwood, and these two movies prove it. In Exit Wounds, he plays a cop who is demoted to a tough precinct, only to find the place riddled with corruption, and him sticking his nose in where it doesn't belong. DMX plays a lead suspect who may or may not be involved. The action scenes are loud and frantic and come every five minutes, although the rushing sounds of each kick make it laughable. Out For Justice, however, is a no-nonsense, ultra-violent revenge thriller with Seagal playing an Italian cop with links to the mob out to find the man who killed his friend and fellow cop. Unlike Exit Wounds, which does have some comic relief, Out For Justice does, and is just violent scene after violent scene. Character development and subplots don't exist. ...Is there anyone reading this who thinks Steven Seagal is a great actor or that he will make a film that isn't at its very best derivative junk? If you're interested in Exit Wounds at all, it's because it's an action movie and has a somewhat interesting cast. You're expectations for it are probably pretty low but your curious if Seagal is still a reasonably entertaining bad-ass and if DMX can act. The answer to both questions is a qualified yes. Exit Wounds is low-brow entertainment. It's not a film you study or savor for its intricacies or sub-texts. You watch a film like this very much like you watch your average television program. Advantages: Visually stunning, incredible use of sound, very talented cast.
Disadvantages: Slow start, fairly poor finish.

...at times but ultimately the film is really quite satisfying to watch. A lot is held back from you here as a viewer, we do only know what Tolbiac knows and it is this that becomes so frustrating; it all comes together in the end though and half the fun of this film is piecing it all together and working out exactly what is going on here. It's easy to get caught up in the absolute visual glory of 'Eden Log', it's still a very good film though and despite a slow start and a not too great ending; I'd definitely still recommend giving this film a viewing.
