When i first heard of Evil Dead, i didn't know what to think. So i bought the Limited Edition Trilgy DVD. Just to see what i thought. And what i think, is that all 3 of the films are outstanding.
Evil Dead 1
I believe it was banned in some countries when it was originally released, and this is understandable from some of the cheap effects and gore used in the film. It is not so much the actual visuals of the film that would get it banned, it is just the ideas that are brought forward. A tree forcing itself unto a woman, zombies being decapitated and so forth. Each of these aspects make the film in my eyes, as well as Bruce Campbell playing a brilliant comedic part in the film.
Evil Dead 2
I have to say, it is much the same as the first film. When i first watched it i honestly thought that i was watching the same film again. Then i realised it was ever so slightly different. The plot was exactly the same, but this was fine, because the films themselves were so funny and good. The effects were ever so slightly better but this doesnt really matter as the clay-animation was quite primitive and funny to watch. The second installment of Evil Dead was even funnier than the first, Ash's hand, playing one of the main characters.
Evil Dead 3 - Army Of Darkness
You can tell that the writers got a little bit bored, considering they had done nothing since the first film. So this time they completely changed the plot. With Bruce being transported back in time. This film was hilarious, packed with jokes, slapstick comedy and so many anachronisms. Very funny, and once again, the effects were slightly better, but still relatively primitive, although this just adds to the films.
Extras
Quite a funny interview with Jonathon Ross in it, he looked even more stupid then than he does now. As well as a making of documentary and some out-takes with some rather dodgy camera and sound work.
Overall 10/10
This dvd is a limited edition version that i bought from play.com a few years ago. Generally thats the website i use, but another good one is www.find-dvd.co.uk it finds the cheapest place online to buy the dvd searched. http://www.find-dvd.co.uk/ABD4254.htm

My favourite trilogy of all time and there's so much to say about them, - I just don't think you've said enough about each of the three films that could be said! I mean the genius behind the whole she-bang, Mr Sam Raimi, doesn't even get a mention. For shame... Alboy
