Absolute rubbish. Rubbish, rubbish, rubbish! If I could, then I'd give it zero... and that would still be generous. But let me explain what it's about before I continue slating it.

Some professor (Patrick Bergin of 'Patriot Games' and 'Sleeping With the Enemy' fame) and his team are up in bonny Scotland investigating the area that they suspect spawned the famous Loch Ness monster, Nessie. Um, and that's about it.

What was Patrick Bergin thinking? He's been in some decent films, so I can only guess that he was paid a lot of money (or owed someone a very big favour) to appear in this load of guff. Director Chuck Comisky must have been having a laugh. If I were Scottish, I'd be outraged by his depiction of Scotland and the Scottish. Typical patronising American ignorance.

This drivel is classed as 'horror', for Pete's sake! It even has the nerve to say - in big red letters on the back of the case - "Sixty feet of prehistoric terror". Gimme a break! I've seen scarier episodes of Scooby Doo.

If you want to be gripped with suspense, or gasp at the special effects, then you'll have to look somewhere else, because I'm afraid this really isn't the film for you. However, if you want to laugh out loud (and roll around on the floor laughing until you weep) at really bad acting and cringe at the worst attempt at a Scottish accent by bland Americans who clearly haven't done their homework (so many insults to British culture - how can they get away with it?), then this is the film for you. Otherwise, avoid this DVD like the plague. It's terrible and I'm not joking. I'm just thankful I didn't spend too much money on it, because I would have been very tempted to ask for my money back and kick up an almighty fuss if need be.

* DISCLAIMER: I wrote a very short review for this film, which can still be found online at a popular DVD rental site (although I can't name it, as we are not supposed to plug other websites here). This formed the basis of the above review. Please consider this before accusing me of copying somebody else's work and giving me a low rating! I hope this is sufficient. I guarantee that none of the above has been copied and that opinions expressed are entirely my own. Thank you.
