I first saw ... ...surprised with it than I ever thought I could imagine. I still had fond memories of the 1950 Disney version of Cinderella (with all those hilarious mice) and wasn't excited (initially) to see an updated treatment. However, from the very first frame I was sucked in by one of the most loviest scores I've heard in years....then I met the characters who were much more interesting that one would have guessed and as a result, I named it one of the best ...

...very pleased to say that Ever After is one of the most charming, well acted, beautifully subtle and pleasant family movies that I have ever seen. With huge amounts of heart and of cause the ever brilliant and talented Drew Barrymore.
We first see ageing women, speaking to those master story tellers the brother Grimm. A wonderful portrait hanging on the wall, she proceeds to tell them, the real story of Cinderella her great, great, great grandmother.
... ...and Prince Henry live happily ever after? The acting in Ever After is nothing short of stunning. Each actor takes their role and fantastically twists it and moulds it into something new that is not necessarily written in the script. Now I am a massive fan of Drew Barrymore, I have complete faith in her talent, but I am aware that some people, don’t like her as they can’t erase the picture of little Gertie from E.T from their mind. For people like ...

Advantages: A beautifully accomplished movie Disadvantages: None whatsoever
Usual I would run a mile before anyone can get me to watch a period movie. Period in the sense, that people dress up in period costumes and attempt to speak "olde English". I am constantly on the lookout for telltale signs of modern day technology in such films, such as a plane flying above, someone wearing a digital watch or even a ringing mobile phone ... you get my drift. But in recent days, I have became a fan of Pride & Prejudice, and so a little ... ...DVD.
Synopsis
The classic Cinderella story with a difference. The usual evil stepmother, one evil stepsister, a nice stepsister and a handsome prince up for grabs. Gone is the fairy godmother, replaced by Leonardo Di Vinci (carrying a picture of Mona Lisa) to France to become the resident artist at the Palace.
Cinderella here is Danielle, mistreated by stepmother and sister as a servant in her home (This I must say, will not be tolerated ...

I would highly recommend this film, I'm sure you'll enjoy it just as much as I did. The only minor faults are points of inaccuracy in the manner in which the prince addresses Danielle since when are young unmarried girls referred to as Madame in France? Other than my little pedantic ...

Advantages: The perfect Cinderella story Disadvantages: There is no more!
...only this movie is called Ever After.
I'll begin in the usual manner, and for those of you who haven't read my film reviews before, I'm going to start with a quote from somebody else!
"An enchanting rendition of the classic Cinderella tale set in sixteenth century France."
FREDERIC AND MARY ANN BRUSSAT - Spirituality and Health
"Sure to be a hit with almost everyone who sees it."
JAMES BERARDINELLI - ReelViews
Now it's that time again, time ... ...probably the first film I ever say Scott in and I certainly didn't regret it! Prince Henry is our knight in shining armour. Not wanting to be a Prince and regretting the position and title he has, Henry wishes to be free of it all, to have a life, that is not surrounded by rules and guards and castle walls. Challenging at times, but Henry has a soft exterior! A true Prince and gentleman!
I have done the three main character profiles of this film. ...

Advantages: Steve Irwin Disadvantages: Not enough Steve Irwin, convoluted storyline, limited screen size
...into a narrow strip as it appeared on TV with a large part of black on top and bottom. At first, I thought that this was just our old TV but watching on Grandma’s modern widescreen TV, it made no difference. Ever so often, there would be writing below to tell us the location so I decided it had to be deliberate after all but I was most dissatisfied with losing viewing size. Yet on some of Steve’s solo efforts with exotic animals, the screen became even smaller when the viewing screen became a smaller window with black down the sides as well. I really don’t know what the filmmakers were thinking of here. However, on a more positive note, at the opening of the MGM film, instead of the usual lion roaring, there is instead a crocodile snapping its jaws. That made for quite an amusing start, which my son always delights in pointing out. If that spirit...
