The sequel to Bruce Almighty this film is about Evan Baxter, Bruce's career rival. Jim Carrey hasn't made a re-appearance in this film however, Morgan Freeman reappears as God and Evan Baxter is stll played by Steve Carrell.

At the beginning of the film Evan is leaving his job as anchor man as he has been elected to congress and is moving out nearer to Washington. He has bought himself a big SUV and ordains his house with all kinds of environmentally unfriendly furnishings. Congressman Long (John Goodman - big fat guy or Fred Flintstone) is looking for his backing in a bill to remove forest and all in all Evan is living a busy life: negligent to his family and uncompassionate to animals and the environment.

He starts to get plagued by the numbers 6.14 and by a man calling himself God, not to mention large delieveries of unordered wood. He is told he is to make an Ark as there will be a flood. As you would, he finds this ridiculous and doesn't believe it at all but eventually after some faancy miracles comes round; putting his career and his family on line to make an Ark.

This was an all right film. Not as good as Bruce Almighty but not as bad as other comedy sequels like Son of the Mask and Dumber and Dumberer. Correll seemed to be trying to be like Jim Carrey for awhile which was abit annoying and I didn't really think much of his performance nor do I like many other films with him but he started to get a little more bearable as the film went on. The wife annoyed me as it really didn't take much to make her want to leave Evan and the whole family neglecting father is so cliched in films. One of Evan's children was played by Jimmy Bennet and I really hate that boy with his wide protruding mouth and his floppy hair, he was in Poseidon and I wanted him to drown in that so he'd shutup. Who does he think he is?

The special effects weren't bad. In parts were you saw the CGI animals up close they did look a bit fake but when there was a big field of animals they looked quite realistic and the massive flood scene was quite impressive. Also was it just me or did getting all those animals seem abit pointless? Surely they weren't all going to be in the vicinity of that flood.

The performances of other actors in the film weren't great. Seriously bad acting by some. Morgan Freeman is probably the best actor in the lot and has a slightly bigger part here than he did in Bruce Almighty. Jonah Hill from Superbad played one of Evan's advisors and he was pretty funny but on a whole it is not a very funny film. Steve Oedekerk made the fantastic KUNG POW but also wrote some pretty mediocre comedies and this is a pretty mediocre comedy. It doesn't really have any laugh out loud moments but if you think films like the Nutty Professor are funny then you'll think this is. I just think they're light-hearted films that can raise a smile. A good family film more than anything. I would recommend it for a watch if you liked Bruce Almighty, the Nutty Professor or Ace Ventura.

I personally wouldn't buy it on DVD and wouldn't recommend anyone to buy it.
