Eulogy DVD

...is held in the surviving Enterprise torpedo bay. Barely managing to finish his eulogy without becoming tearful he comments, “Of all the souls I have encountered in my travels, his was the most…human” Spock’s casket is fired away down to Genesis as Scotty pipes him out with “Amazing Grace” and we see Saavik shed a tear for her lost mentor. This is all still very touching even to the casual viewer but, if you love the characters like I do, it’s a very important and memorable scene because it’s done so well. As the Enterprise leaves orbit Kirk receives a visit from David in his quarters. The reconciliation between father and son (two people who barely know each other at all) is handled well enough so as to tie up loose ends but you do feel that after years of neglect and possible bitterness that this event is happening a bit too soon... .... The DVD opens with very dramatic footage and atmospheric music as a youthful cub TV news reporter makes his way through one of the saddest places in Britain (for a steam rail fan) the scrapyards in Barry, South Wales, which were the resting place for many steam engines. It had become a place of pilgrimage for steam fans from all over the UK. It was 1967. The young reporter was seen (in black and white, of course!) mournfully examining some of the 250 steam engines that were awaiting the cutting torch in the yards, standing, wheels locked by rust, their fate, or so it seemed, sealed by Beaching. The reporter boarded one steam engine to deliver his moving eulogy to British steam. By some quirk of fate it transpired that the train that the reporter had decided to use as his pulpit on the death of steam trains was the engine featured... Read review

...action, which was happening on screen but right in your face. It goes on to show you how the scene was set up and the wire shots etc that were planted under the snow to help everything go with a bang. **Deleted Scenes** These included: Corner Store Hold-up The Brothers Eulogy Bobby Teases Jack After the Hockey Game Arriving at Jeremiah’s Revenge is a full time job. Lt Green questions Councilman Douglas Det Fowler warns Angel Cops arrest Angel This film was only 104 minutes long so I think they could have comfortably included some of these deleted scenes in the film. **Theatrical Trailer** This is obviously the trailer for the film, and it’s the one I saw that made me want to get it in the first place. Good trailer – gets you interested. OTHER STUFF The DVD has a running time of 104 minutes which is a good length... Read review
