WithPlanet of the Apesthere was so much to be intellectually stimulated by, it's intriguing to consider what he might have put together under another director's mind-set (like the largely conventionally scored four sequels). There's no indication of music in the Ape culture; the film's heroic focal point (Charlton Heston) is a self-centred misanthrope. Goldsmith therefore chose to represent the landscape and ideas (such as slavery). Where possible he turned musical convention on its head, suggesting the upside-down culture. In some places he even about-faced his instrumentation--inverting horn funnels to give a hollow rasp. This stark, bleak, uncomfortable collection of noise, comes at you in clusters. Often the composer's music is accessible without knowledge of the film, but it's imperative you've seen this movie to appreciate the full effect of the ram's horn in "The Hunt", a centrally important cue in the film's narrative and not incidentally one of Goldsmith's most inspired creations. A nice bonus is a suite fromEscape from the Planet of the Apes, which takes all of two seconds to show how the series slipped into predictability with its cheesy electric guitars. They certainly convey the 1973 setting, and the complicated percussive tempos offer some reminder of his original score. In thinking, it cannot hope to match it, unfortunately.--Paul Tonks

Advantages: The first film in reverse Disadvantages: Not a lot happens
...After the events of the last Apes film (Beneath The Planet Of The Apes), you were left thinking that, that was that, the end, its been nice, but that’s it, so when this film comes along you kinda think ‘well what the hell are they going to do this time’. Its the ultimate task for a writer, to get out of the mess you left last time, because you didn’t expect to do a sequal.
This was made in 1971, and is 94 minutes long, its the third in the Planet of the Apes film series and has a lot missing from it that made these films popular, this time its the reverse of the idea of the original, which is, that apes arrive in a world where humans rule. Again the story is by Paul Dehn, based on characters from the book by Pierre Boullie, and its directed by Don Taylor.
So what does happen?, well it features the two...

...of the monkey training center that is on the planet but little does Leo know it will not be much help.
At the end of the film Leo finds out that he isd not just on another planet, he has travelled in time and the mothership that followed him to rescue him ended up on the planet hundreds of years before leo did, I am not going to tell you all the plot because their are more twists and at the very end a big shock for Leo on earth.
