Mr Bean - The Animated Series - Vol. 1 DVD

Advantages: distracts the children
Disadvantages: not funny, humour very simple and mostly slapstick or toilet houmour.

I'm quite surprised to learn that some people atually like the animated series of Mr Bean, and find it just as entertaining, if not more appealing than the 'proper' Mr Bean. When I refer to proper Mr Bean I am of course talking about Rowna Atkinson's smash hit comedy sitcom in the 90's which followed a dry and whimsical character make a complete mess of very simple everyday activities like a trip to the swimming pool, parking his car, or visiting the cinema. Personally I love the original Mr Bean, although some detest his bumbling foolish nature, I find him entertaining on a unique scale. Maybe it's because a part of me feels sorry for him or that in some cercumstances it is really quite ingenuis how you can get make some of the simplest tasks a complete disaster. However the animated series proved to be a complete let down ...

Queen dvd collection

Advantages: Fun songs and videos
Disadvantages: none

Since reviewing the Platinum collection double cd i thought it would be appropriate to do the same with the Queen dvd.I dug it out of the archives,had a watch and still enjoyed it as much as i always did.Sometimes it pays to not overplay any music you have as it then tends to become a little boring.It must be a couple of years since i watched this so this is my view on what i consider to be an excellent dvd. The design....... This dvd case is designed in black with the now famous four band members in their traditional 'Bohemian Rhapsody' pose.The four faces bearing no hint of a smile highlighted against a dark background.Above is the title designed in silver text which stands out nicely on the black background.The back cover has the song listings in white text and again on a black background. Review of Queen - The DVD Collection: Greatest Video Hits 1 (DVD)

Fruits Basket DVD 1

Advantages: Fantastic characters, great and original story line.
Disadvantages: That the anime only covers so little of the manga story.

rare occasions where I preferred the English dub to the Japanese with English subtitles. Main reasons being that I disliked the Japanese cast for Yuki Sohma, and that the English cast did the series justice and didn't sound wooden at all. Music: The background music (BGM) fit the series well, and is for the most part light and pleasant. Nothing special, though, even the opening and ending theme are non spectacular. So though it fits well, Fruits Basket isn't a series I would buy the soundtrack for. Value for money: Amazing. Seriously, this disc has the first 6 half-hour episodes. It is a 26-part anime series, and fits on 4 discs total (you can also buy a special boxed set of the 4) whereas most 26-part series' can drag them out for 7 or even 8 if they're clever (a la Escaflowne).
