I had a major problem in watching this film and that happened to have been that I was half-way through the book by the time I watched this. That's why I have given this film a 2 star rating. To be totally honest, if you're going to create a film from a book you should stick to the story as much as possible, however most films don't do that. The best example of them following the proper story-line would have to be the new film by Summit Entertainment: Twilight, which is almost exactly the same as the book. However, a book is written and published because it has a great story line, however a film that adapts the book to make it into a film might as well change all the names and the title and produce that way, as you will get more people to go and see it and get better ratings than you would when you mix up the book.
Stefen has only ever directed this film; however he has been a visual effects supervisor. A film that stands out, that I could easily compare this with is "Lemony's Snicket's: A Series Of Unfortunate Events", Stefen was the visual effects supervisor and must have gotten his inspiration for changing the film around from that film, as that was mixed up too.
Eragon is played by Ed Speelers. Ed isn't a favourite actor of mine, in my opinion he's not that good of an actor to be totally honest, and I bet you anything he has never read the book, and therefore that may have made me hate this film more and more, as I did expect the character to be brave but scared at the same time, however Ed did not show that in the film and changed the character all together. I have seen him in "Echobeach", which I am disappointed that it will not return!
The other actors and actresses did not put on that great of a performance, and the people who chose who acted out whom and what they should look like totally changed my imaginary story in my head. I expected Brom to be this all powerful wizard and everything and I really do wish I never saw this film.
Eragon is a farm boy in his late-teen years who lives in a small village named Carvahall in the fictional and magical country of Alagaësia that contains dragons and other such fictional creatures. While hunting, he finds a dragon egg that is the size of a small cat. From the egg hatches a blue dragon named Saphira. Eragon decides to keep Saphira a secret, but a pair of magical creatures, The Razac, is sent by the King of Alagaesia, Galbatorix, to find Eragon and the dragon. He flees home, and returns to find out his uncle Garrow has been killed by the Razac and so sets out on a journey to avenge his Uncle. Accompanied by a wise storyteller named Brom, Eragon and Saphira take up the legacy of legendary Dragon Riders. He learns magic, sword fighting, and dragon-riding to fulfil the legend of the dragon riders and his destiny, to help over throw the Empire and its tyrant king, Galbatorix. But can he overthrow Galbatorix?
I did like the song that was the soundtrack to the film, and that was "Keep Holding On" - by Avril Lavigne, however I've always been a fan for Avril and therefore it is unpredictable that I would like the song.
If someone asked me to pick out 1 thing I liked about the film, I would say the song by Avril. And I know that sounds really weird and doesn't really fit into the film as much, but you have to trust me THAT IS THE ONLY BEST THING ABOUT THE FILM!!!
The Special Features are: -Audio Commentary with Director Stefen Fangmeier -Extended and Deleted Scenes (Optional Director's Commentary) -Become the Dragon Rider videogame trailer
(Guess what I didn't watch any of them, however the game is sooooo much better than the film!!!!!!!!!)
I hope I have put you off this film for life, but if you do like soundtracks then I would gladly let you watch this film, and I do recommend it to people who have read the book as they would agree with me that the book's better, and also they can compare the book to the film.

Advantages: Jeremy Irons. Costumes. Effects. Hedlund's hot bod. (Just kidding. Or am I?) Disadvantages: Who wrote the damn script... Aha I see it was you Peter Buchman. Incompetent fool. Blegh.
