From Jason Friedberg and Aaron Setzer (DATE MOVIE, SCARY MOVIE) comes this everything-in-the-kitchen-sink, blender-set-to-grind comedy, which pokes fun at big crowd-pleasers like...
more...WILLIE WONKA AND THE CHOCOLATE FACTORY, CHRONICLES OF NARNIA, SNAKES ON A PLANE, PIRATES OF THE CARIBBEAN, X-MEN, NACHO LIBRE, and THE DA VINCI CODE, among others. The loose plot involves a gang of teen orphans whose trip inside Wonka’s candy factory leads them to a Narnia-style wardrobe adventure. Jennifer Coolidge is the evil White Bitch they have to tangle with in this new land, and Fred Willard plays Aslo, the lion. Scene-stealing Crispin Glover plays the Wonka-be, David Carradine breakdances, and the vivacious Carmen Elektra morphs enticingly in her X-MEN-style blue body paint. A bevy of eerie look-alikes pose as Paris Hilton, Anna Paquin, Samuel Jackson, and P Diddy, among others. Of course there’s raunch a-plenty to keep the MTV generation of all ages amused. The jokes come so fast that no one need worry if a gag here falls flat: another one is right behind to jump on its back.

Epic Movie

Directed and written by Jason Friedberg and Aaron Seltzer (Spy hard, Scary movie and Date movie)
Produced by Paul Schiff

Epic Movie is a comedy based on spoofs of other films (Chronicles of Narnia, Charlie and the chocolate factory, Pirates of the caribien, X-men, snakes on a plane, Nacho libre and the Da Vinci code to name a few)

Cast:
Kal Penn/ Edward Pervertski
Faune A. Chambers/ Susan Pervertski
Adam Campbell/ Peter Pervertski
Jayma Mays/ Lucy Pervertski
Carmen Electra/ Mystique ( a very very very small part )
Jennifer Coolidge/ The White Bitch of Gnarnia

The story
Edward, Susan, Peter and lucy all win a golden ticket (parody of Charlie and the chocolate factory). They happen to be parodying other films when they win this ticket. Edward (Nacho Libre), Susan (Snakes on a plane), Peter (X-men) and Lucy (Da Vinci code). Upon arrival at willy wonka's Chocolate factory the become help captive as Willy wants their body parts. Whilst held Captive Lucy finds a Wardrobe and travels through (not before numerous items fall on her). Lucy is now in 'Gnarnia' and meets mr Tumnus who shows her around his house in a MTV cribs style fashion. Edward follows and this is when we are introduces to the 'white bitch' the orphans become entrapped by the white witch, at this point the meet captain jack swallows.(after meeting a much older cast of Harry potter and being Punk'd) the story (if you can call it that) continues in this fashion
with appearances of characters from other films. Rather unfunny jokes are thought the film trying to make fun of whatever it is they happen to be parodying at the time.

The Acting.
Id love to list the actors and how well they played the role but truth is they didn't, certain parts left you feeling awkward for them. The worst part of acting came from David Lehre
As he tried to portray Ashton Kutcher I was cringing as I watched

The writers
Jason Friedberg and Aaron Seltzer have worked together on a number of films, most popular being the first Scary movie (A parody of the Scream films which I loved). The also Co wrote Spy hard and Date movie before epic movie. They have a running theme where they parody whatever films have been recently release (mostly popular films) and use this to poke fun and spoof.

Why I did not like the film.
The comedy was altogether far too predictable and the lines were rather cheap shots
'Willy: Who wants to play with Willy?'
'Willy: Who wants to chew my gumballs?'
'Kanye West look-alike: [while Lucy is viewing the camera from Mr. Tumnus] The White Bitch doesn't care about black people.'
Lucy (referring to a painting of Tom Hanks with his crazy hair in The Da Vinci Code) 'So lame the hair of Tom'... Lame... that's a seven letter word!

The humour was less than average and the dialogue was even worse:
Peter: We have something the White Bitch doesn't.
Lucy: Perky breasts?
White Bitch: Behold, my white castle (she points to a White Castle restaurant across from them)
Edward: White Castle? I think I've been there before.

The film had no real story to it and literally jumped from one film to another, one minute your watching a parody of Nacho libre then Charlie and the chocolate factory and then narnia. The films are not integrated very well and are there for the sake of it, the form no real story or basis for a plot. If you enjoy films that make no sense and have toilet humour that's not all that funny then this is the film for you otherwise keep your 82 mins and do something fun.

Despite my bad review the film huge huge success at the box office, it debuted at #1 with a gross of $18.6 million over the opening weekend. As of May 8, 2007 the film had grossed $86.8 million, with $39,739,367 of that amount earned domestically, considering only $20 million was spent on making the film (and it shows) its considered a financial success. Despite this the film received numerous bad reviews putting it at #80 on IMDb's "Bottom 100" list.
