Use a thief to catch a thief? Then you know you're asking for trouble, particularly when the thief-taker is planning to steal £8 billion dollars!

"Entrapment" is a thoroughly enjoyable movie, with a neat little twist. Catherine Zeta-Jones plays Virginia, who works by day for one of the largest insurance agents in the US. As far as her boss is concerned, she is a genius, a workaholic, and very very lonely. She is also on the trail of one of the most successful art thieves of our time named Mac (played by Mr.Suave himself Sean Connery). After several years she is now very close to capturing her quarry (Mr Connery), or so her boss seems to think.

Virginia manages to persuade her boss that it would be in the company's interest to get close to Mac, catch him in the act, job done. What her boss doesn't reckon on however is the fact that she in fact has her own hidden agenda - she is a thief herself!

Upon hooking up with Mac, Virginia proposes a daring raid at a wealthy mansion, where currently a chinese art exhibition is being held. The prize? A solid gold mask, valued to the tune of - wait for it - $40million! That's a lot of mask if you ask me. So our villainous pair prepare themselves for the task ahead. As it is a well known fact there is little honour amongst thieves, which Mac makes quite clear from the start. This is where things take a nice little twist. Mac learns that his female compardre is in fact trying to set him up. What she doesn't know though is that Mac is secretly working for the FBI, who have been following Virginia's thieving antics for years, and he is helping them to catch her. Confused? You will be.

Having completed their first daring raid, Mac "persuades" Virginia to tell him what she is really up to - which is in fact enlisting him to help her with the most daring crime the world has ever seen - to steal no less than $8 billion dollars on Millenium Eve from South East Asia's largest money clearing house. Where is all this money stashed then? Inside a computer of course, where else could you hide that sort of money? Definitely not in a bag marked "swag"! It is not just the challenge which Mac accepts though, as he is slowly but surely breaking his own golden rule of keeping it all professional, and finds himself falling for Virginia (well, you would, wouldn't you?). A feeling which is reciprocated by his partner. It's all getting complicated.

That's all I'm prepared to tell you, as any more would spoil the fun of watching this very enjoyable film. Yet again Ms. Zeta-Jones proves that she is not just a pretty face and turns in a very good performance, showing that she can indeed act. As for Mr.Connery, do I really need to say anything that has not already been said? Even at the advance stage in his career he has the presence on screen that many would be actors would aspire to. He has the ability to make any role, however difficult, appear to be a walk in the park. Another actor of note who appears is Ving Rhames (Diamond Dog from "Con Air", MI:2 also) who plays the FBI agent assigned to Mac, ensuring he is playing by the rules. Another good performance from him and worth a mention.

There is not very much bad with this film. Good plot, enjoyable story line throughout and very good cast. The soundtrack, although not memorable, is sufficient enough to carry the film along. The only downside to this film is that, after about 30-45mins, the plot is a little predictable and you have a feeling you know what is coming next, even right at the very end. Which is a shame as it is very enjoyable. I have watched it several times and enjoyed it thoroughly. Not big on special effects, but worth a viewing all the same.
