Advantages: Great acting, superb ever-twisting storyline, enjoyable, fairly cheap to buy, always keeps you guessing. Disadvantages: Unbelieveable when actually considered, not many good special features at all, weak timing in story - action doesn't occur until right at the end.
Never judge a book by its cover. Or, as I am sure the phrase is soon to be changed, a DVD by its case. Either way, even though the saying is often clichéd and over-used, it most certainly applies in this case. 'Entrapment' may look like another rushed and predictable American money-grabber of a film, released merely as an excuse to take millions at the box office and video sales on both sides of the Atlantic, but, despite the opinion of many critics, ... ...than the average action movie. Once you begin to watch it, in fact, you appreciate the perfection of which this well acted, fast-moving blockbuster can quite confidently boast.
The story is set a few weeks before the Millennium, where a potentially fraudulent insurance firm employee, Gin Baker (played by Catherine Zeta-Jones), is attempting to frame a renowned worldwide robber for a recently committed art theft, which she actually carried out herself. ...

Advantages: good storyline, not over-played Disadvantages: a little predictable
Use a thief to catch a thief? Then you know you're asking for trouble, particularly when the thief-taker is planning to steal £8 billion dollars!
"Entrapment" is a thoroughly enjoyable movie, with a neat little twist. Catherine Zeta-Jones plays Virginia, who works by day for one of the largest insurance agents in the US. As far as her boss is concerned, she is a genius, a workaholic, and very very lonely. She is also on the trail of one of the most ... ...Mr.Suave himself Sean Connery). After several years she is now very close to capturing her quarry (Mr Connery), or so her boss seems to think.
Virginia manages to persuade her boss that it would be in the company's interest to get close to Mac, catch him in the act, job done. What her boss doesn't reckon on however is the fact that she in fact has her own hidden agenda - she is a thief herself!
Upon hooking up with Mac, Virginia proposes a daring ...

Advantages: Great storyline which major twists throughout the movie Disadvantages: Strange love intrest
When I first saw Entrapment on video, I wasn’t too sure what it was about. All I knew is that it involved intelligent thieves and Catharine Zeta-Jones. When I watched it, I was extremely impressed. With its acting, plot line and even its twists throughout the movie were of a high quality.
The actors chosen to play the roles of Mac and Gin are, again of a high calibre. For the character of 'Mac' McDougal, the Scottish Sean Connery took up the role ... ...languages.
~Overall~
Entrapment is one of those films that keep you guessing all the way throughout the movie. Even from the start you are not 100% sure what Gin's motives are, and that thought is carried on right until the final scene.
Their are a couple of action scenes in the movie which keep you excited and on the edge of your seat, especially during their final heist in Malaysia, but around half of the film is the both of them preparing for ...

Advantages: Good transfer and sound Disadvantages: Dull extra, mediocre film
As Entrapment begins we see an interesting and elaborate heist which involves a masked thief uses modern gadgets to smoothly steal a rembrant painting with the greatest of ease. Needless to say the insurance company aren't to pleased about the theft, employee Virginia Baker (Catherine Zeta Jones) believes the culprit to be an old professional thief Robert MacDougal (Sean Connery). Baker goes undercover to catch MacDougal by posing as a fellow thief ... ...The problem with Entrapment is that it's a film which thinks it's being incredibly clever when all the time it's not. Formulaic double crossing is the order of the day, yes there's some nice style but that doesn't mean a thing when you have no real substance to back it up. Connery and Jones do suitable jobs and as always Rhames is cool but ultimately wasted. The only things that really work in the film are some of the heists which are nicely orchestrated ...

Advantages: catherine-zeta jones Disadvantages: could have been better
I had not expected much from this movie, but I ended up liking it very much. While not terribly believable, the plot does not have any major holes in it. It was not entirely original, I recognised several scenes from movies like "the Setup" and the Thomas Crown Affair. On the other hand, nothing was completely copied end the plot held enough twists to be interesting. The one difficulty I have with the whole movie is the part played by Connery, i ...

Advantages: Apples'n'not many Disadvantages: Z-J and the Syrup
..., at least the ones he appeared in, you jerk), The Hunt For Red October and, erm, well there must be some others … was he in Highglander? It’s a very distinguished Syrup, all grey peppery stuff, with that poxy widow’s peak at the front, but one which dominates every film in which it appears, and this one is no different…
IN THE RED CORNER, we find the Slapper, the very beautiful, but very knowing she is, Welsh harlot Catherine Zeta-Jones, she of the raven tresses, jump suit, daring acrobatics, a dark memory of being the sex interest in The Darling Buds of May (Perfick!!) and an even darker current status as the bedwarmer of Old Man Douglas. Ms (what’s that all about, eh?) Z-J is destined to play the desirable vamp in every film she features in from now until the end of time, and Entrapment is no different. In fact, she’s basically the only...
