I recently saw this film which was recommended to be by a friend. I had no expectations whatsoever- and was severely impressed by Miss Lopez.
***The Gist of the Story***
Goodlooking woman (J. Lopez plays Slim) meets handsome man. They fall in love, get married and start a family. All seems perfect- until we find out he is not so perfect. In fact he makes his wifes life living hell. A perfectionist, he believes he can treat anyone how he pleases and also sees no fault in beating his wife.
Without giving too much away, Slim decides she cannot stand up to him and leaves. However, he finds her and their daughter wherever they move to. Slim decides they are not safe and decides to fight back.
***Characters***
Jennifer Lopez plays a waitress, who goes through months of emotional turmoil. Her best friend is played by Juliette Lewis.
Other performances to look out for are by Noah Wyle(the good-looking one from ER), and the girl who plays Slim's daughter. Bill Campbell is also excellant.
***The Director*** Michael Apted has also directed The World Is Not Enough. However this could not be more different. The film shines due to the characters and the performances, not due to special effects.
***The Soundtrack*** I think this plays quite an important role. Throughout the film its quite tense and mirrors the feelings the characters go through.
***DVD Extra Features***
Deleted Scenes These are great. There are 3 of them and you can choose to have the directory commentary on or off.
You can also choose to watch the whole film with the director commenting throughout. I did not do this as I didn't have enough time and I think it would have been a little tedious to sit through the whole film again.
There is also behind the scenes footage which is quite interesting to watch.
All in all a great package! One worth watching!

A fairly good review- just missing a little bit.
The thing that impressed me most about the film was the little girl who played J-Lo's daughter. She was absoloutely amazing for someone so young- if she continues into acting as a career as she gets older she will go far. Jo xx
