English Rugby's Six Of The Best - New Millennium DVD

Advantages: Some great action for rugby fans, Extras are very good
Disadvantages: A Little rushed, Too much time spent on opening ceremony

...With the Rugby world cup 2007 fast approaching, I decided to root out this DVD, which I had bought as part of a set of four after the 2003 event. As a big Rugby union fan, I definately enjoyed this DVD, which features all the best tries, tackles, kicks and performances from the wonderful tournament. However it does feel a little rushed, and way too much time is spent watching the highlights of the opening ceremony. The rugby action is good, but the chapters can sometimes look more like montages than actual rugby footage. This DVD does feature the entire Wales vs New Zealand quarter final, widely regarded as one of the best games in rugby world cup histroy. Advantages: Beautiful looking, stunning and original storyline, genuinely moving finale, interesting characters, environments/flashback sequences used to great effect
Disadvantages: Potentially confusing at first and requires a second viewing to get the most from it, no UK/English-language release yet, won't appeal to those who prefer simple animation

...Scrolling along IMDB.com’s list of ‘Best Animated Films’ one morning, I spotted something potentially amiss. An anime entitled Millennium Actress had not only sneaked in amongst the elite ranks, but was scaling the dizzy heights of #8 in the coveted list, matching and in many cases beating the majority of Disney’s established classics. I consider myself a definite fan of the anime genre; though freely confess that at the time I knew nothing of Millennium Actress (Sennen Joyu in Japan). In my defence however, it is not currently available to buy in the UK (though I am confident that one day it will be) and that the very concept of Japanimation is considered to be, at best, somewhat niche market to most round these parts. Advantages: Great start to a forgotten series

...I am reviewing the six disk DVD set of Millennium series 1 In 1996 Chris Carter the creator of the X-Files wanted something new and going in a different pace to the X-files, he thought long and hard about what to do but didn't really want to make anything with unsolved mysterys at the end of each episode. He had a story in mind about an FBI agent and his family trying to start a new life in another part of America to escape the past. He had an actor in mind for Frank's part straight away "Lance Henriksen" who Chris had seen acting on stage and on TV and knew he would be right for the part, he wanted lance because he would be older than any other characters he had done before and wanted to make sure that viewers would believe that he had been through a lot in his life.
