Advantages: Great workout, fabulous for abs Disadvantages: Need some knowledge of Pilates and the warm up is poor
...I have started to do Pilates in January 2005 and since then, I have never stopped. I have been going to classes every Monday and Thursday and never missed one. Unfortunately, as the classes are in my daughter's school, it doesn't run during holidays. So I decided to look for PilatesDVD. I first bought a Video but the quality was so bad I bought a DVD from a different collection.
So how does it look like?
The DVD comes in a purple case clearly writing MTV PILATES on the front...you can't miss it! It also has a picture of the Pilates instructor, Kristin McGee on the front.
It's a pretty basic cover but is clearly showing was it is for!

Work it inside and out with MTV Pilates. Learn the moves that strengthen your body and power up your mind. Hosted by renowned Yoga and Pilates instructor Kristin...

Advantages: So easy and simply for beginners Disadvantages: Some may find excersizes too easy and not enough to do
...different variations to every exercise, it is suitable for all with any level of fitness.
The instructor in the dvd isn't annoying or patronising. The music is simplistic and relaxing but some might find it cheesey.

We ended up buying a rug as the mat on the floor does not give enough support and the thick good exercise mats are extremely expensive.
After the workout I felt great and wanted to do more. After a period of time I mainly noticed the difference in my legs. I am only short anyway but they had a lengthened appearance. Also very defined without being bulky!
Pilates is also a great exercise to get amazing abs! After my first child...

...I have tried exercise DVD`s before and they are usually 5 minute wonders. It is with good intentions that I buy them and with great enthusiasm that I try them but then they take pride of place in my DVD collection not touched again for months. I am not lazy, I attend a gym and enjoy exercising but find it difficult sometimes to become motivated at home. One of the classes that I used to frequent at the gym was pilates but work commitments made it more difficult to make the class so I decided to give the DVD a go. I think I paid about £10 on the internet.
Pilates is a way of toning your body whilst concentrating on breathing and relaxation. It is not a form of aerobic exercise, it is quite gentle. It can be enjoyed by all ages and there are variations on each movement and degrees of difficulty. It helps very much with posture...
